This factor is the team leaders’ behavior and style of management in each of these teams. The team leader or manager being a main role player in both teams has shaped the performance and motivation level of the team members and has led Lumen to be a successful and lively team, while the Absorb to a directionless and aimless team. The absorb team’s some members had also been together in a team previously, but there is no such an indication that they had underperformed in their previous teams, while now they are finding their team leader an authoritarian leader who instead of encouraging their hearts is looking by himself as what is right and what is wrong. He seems to be applying the Old management model which is to get things done in his own way rather than letting his team choose the way they do things, so that they feel motivated doing it. Let us look at the definition of team to understand if they were team in its modern sense of meaning.
Hernandez said that the most important qualities in a leader are humbleness, accept criticism, identify and solve the team problems, be innovative, adaptable, passionate, but non-judgmental. A leader should also be able to give to the team and not only demand from the team. Accountability is another important quality; the achievements as well as the failures pertain to the leader and the team members. A good leader can communicate in a clear, consistent, and concise manner as well as provide clear directions and guidance on what to do and how to do it. A sense of humor appears irrelevant but sometimes a little joke with the team can go a long way.
For his entire life Socrates had done nothing other than examining his own life hence so he can improve himself as a human being and become wiser than he already was. Being not able to teach the entire city the knowledge which he possessed was what put Socrates to death. He helped others find meaning in their lives and pursue happiness. Never once was it his initial intension to “corrupt” anyone. It was Socrates being a good man and trying to reach out to others in making them succeed in life which is what cost Socrates own life in the long run.
Possibly the biggest and only change we see in Ender is that he loses his fears and learns to be a leader and ultimately the noble hero of the story. The entire plot and characters from the movie where interesting. I particularly enjoyed seeing Ender’s journey from being a child to becoming a young man but neverc losing the core values he believed
As a United States soldier, I also have be trained that it takes hard work, motivation, and dedication to make your dreams come true. Gen. Powell once said “It takes personal hard work and dedication for you to become all that you can be”. On the base of my belief I find this statement to be so true. I've never depended on anyone and never wanted to. I set goals for myself and inspite of everything I've gone through, I've accomplished them and in some cases exceeded them.
The characters that are the most prominent would be Ralph and Jack. Overall, the things that separate these characters are leadership styles, their decision making abilities, and their transformation to savagery. I sometime have a feeling like a leader that has the courage and confidence to do anything that may seem difficult to accomplish. The only difference is that his work is far more superior then mine. His situation is far more difficult than mine. I only feel like the Box Man when I am work I like to do and things I have to accomplish. I feel like it’s only me and myself when I face hard work, and no one to disturb me from working on it.
Helmholtz Watson isn’t a major character in the novel, but he does represent another type of unhappiness that is shown throughout the novel. Helmholtz is just the opposite of Bernard. He is respected and well liked by most people, and was placed into a highly developed caste. Helmholtz is unhappy because he feels that he is too strong and powerful for the world he is living in, and it is suppressing him and not enabling him to show his full potential. Helmholtz is extremely intelligent and understands things that many people in his world do not.
When judging leaders, it is easy to point out and scrutinize their decisions and actions. What most people forget to think about is the reason for such decisions. Many people hope to love their leaders and believe that they will guide them in the right direction. Sometimes, however, there are leaders that people may not love but that are more effective overall then the leaders that are loved. I really never thought about how much hard work was done in that room and on the field. I have met some amazing people throughout my 4 years in the program. Luis Rodriguez, you came into the program barely able to read music and I remember you always asking me what that note was when you sat next to me. You were the best in the marching band, you were the guy that came in with Drum Corps experience and you helped me out tremendously. You were the person that I looked up to and who I wanted to become and I really think I'm there now.
