Western Culture is known as the modern culture of Western Europe and North America. Every county has its own culture and beliefs. The culture here in America can be very different from that of other cultures. Some companies who do well here in America decide to open businesses overseas. Most of these companies do not succeed. While most companies that originate in America have a hard time keeping their businesses going in other countries, McDonald’s seems to be the exception. Companies that originate in America sometimes have a hard time keeping their businesses going in other countries. The problem is American companies assume that if they were successful in the United States, then they would also be successful in another country. If the company does not research the country that they plan to expand into and find out what their values and cultural beliefs are, they are setup for failure. They assume that little if no changes need to be made to the way things are ran and what they offer. Unfortunately, this happens often and leads to that company’s demise. You simply cannot impose western culture onto another culture that is different and expect the company to be successful. American companies need to start researching the values and cultural beliefs of the other countries that they are interested in expanding their businesses in if they wish to succeed. McDonald’s is a company that was started to represent American food, mainly the hamburger. It is known as the American fast food king and is well known by all Americans. Most have at least one, if not more McDonald’s in their neighborhood. McDonald’s does very well here in America mainly because it recognizes the cultural views of the people and what they like.
