Wendy’s 05 in ‘04 Marketing Campaign Wendy’s has always been famous for their hot, fresh, and juicy commercials. When looking for an advertisement I stumbled across their “Wendy’s 05 in ’04” marketing campaign. The Wendy’s low-fat campaigned was featured ads in several magazines and commercials on television during 2004. The advertisement I saw was featured in the January 2004 issue of Cooking Light, a healthy gourmet lifestyle magazine. The Wendy’s ad featured in big bold letters “COSTS LESS THAN A PERSONAL TRAINER” located above delicious looking bowl of chili, side salad, and a baked potato. According to the ad “It’s better here.” at Wendy’s. The Wendy’s ad promotes their value offering of a “hot, plain baked potato, delicious small chili, and a fresh side salad with fat-free dressing.” Each item costing only 99 cents off the value menu, combining these three Super Value Menu offerings have a total of 5 grams of fat. Wendy’s has always been famous for their fresh never frozen hamburgers, homemade chili, and salad offerings. Dave Thomas founded Wendy’s on the fact that people wanted more than the fast food being offered by his competitors. Freshness, quality, and service are top priorities at Wendy’s. Wendy’s trademark, “Waaaay better than fast food” shows this. Wendy’s has stayed in business by giving customers what they want, hot delicious food. The campaign was something new in the fast food industry at the time. In 2004 the Atkins diet was in full swing with the low carbohydrate diet. While every other company was heading in that direction Wendy’s decided to blaze their own trail with the low fat-campaign. No other company would let you eat a baked potato, but that is what Wendy’s gave you. The Wendy’s ad implies an idea of great tasting food at low prices that is also good for you.
