INTRODUCTION EFFECT OF HEAT INPIT TO HARDNESSS OF WELDMENT Introduction Fusion welding involved high temperature that melted both base and filler metal. There are different location experience differences peak temperature, from melting temperature until room temperature. Outcome from differences temperature there are three main region in fusion welding; fusion zone.Heat affected zone(HAZ),and un-heated zone. new microstructure and phases form during rapid solidification in fusion and rapid temperature change in HAZ.The new microstructure and phases will affected the mechanical properties of the weldment. Hardness is the resistance of a material to localized deformation. Hardness measurements are widely used for the quality control of materials because they are quick and considered to be non destructive tests when the marks or indentations produced by test are in low stress areas. In this report we going to focused by make an experiment by using Vickers Hardness Test. The hardness Vickers test is used to determine a materials ability to resist deformation from a standard source. It is often easier to perform than other hardness tests because the calculations involved are independent of indenter size. This experiment will explain how the experiment was conducted, data that was found, and the importance of testing the hardness of fusion zone. Heat affected zone(HAZ),and un-heated zone. Hardness Vickers test values are determined by measuring the depth of an area of indentation left by an indenter.standart that been used is ASTM E384 – micro force ranges – 10g to 1kg.The result will be discussed about the hardness of three different places. OBJECTIVE 1) To determine the hardness value for unaffected zone, HAZ and fusion zone, 2) To study the relationship of heat input to the hardness. 3) To understand the principles of Vickers hardness testing.
