Learning Team D continued to utilize J. C. Penney for the Team Research Project. This team paper will discuss J. C. Penney’s hypothetical survey data, complete with the appropriate tables, graphs, and figures, as well as an in-depth discussion of the statistical results performed by Team D. The Team focused on sampling customers on how often they frequent J. C. Penney’s, including but not limited to age, sales, and customer service feedback. Hypothetical Data Collection The survey below has been administered to show a collection of hypothetical data to use for statistical analysis. A sample of a population of J.C. Penny shoppers from ages 21 and over was chosen. Essentially, the population of interest is the collection of these J.C. Penny customers. The sample is the 1,000 J.C. Penny customers selected from this population with the assumption of a 100% respondent rate. Shopping preferences is the variable of interest with the goal of increasing our customer base, returning customers, and retaining loyal customers. Sampling is representative and sampling methods or techniques are appropriate (Cooper & Schindler, 2011). Mostly structured questions were presented to the participants, which entails a fixed set of choices. For example, a scale from 1 to 5 was presented for participants to rank. This will allow us to learn customer preferences. Another example of scale consists of statements that expressed either ‘dislike’ or ‘like’, which will show a summated rating.
