Conclusions. We conclude that oral shift reporting may be an important learning opportunity. This is especially true when nursing students engage in professional discussions with their colleagues and superiors. Our findings suggest solutions to improve the learning value of the oral shift reporting process for nursing students. Relevance to clinical practice.
Introduction This essay is a critical reflection on my working with a number of colleagues to complete an experimental project. Wertenbroch & Nabeth (2000) define critical reflection as “the process of analysing, reconsidering and questioning experiences within a broad context of issues (e.g., issues related to social justice, curriculum development, learning theories, politics, culture, or use of technology).” Reflection is an important form of learning and has a great effect on acquiring knowledge about a person and the world around them. It plays an essential part of any learning experience, whether you are a high school student, university student or an employee in a company. Engaging in experiences allows a person to utilise his/her senses and to interact with a topic matter. Dewey (1933) is considered by a number of philosophers as the contemporary inventor of reflection, due to the fact that his ideas stem from famous philosophers including Confucius, Plato and Aristotle.
The final step was focused on finding the best way to assess the professor’s students on their fulfillment of course objectives. Session two and three involved reviewing the deliverables of both students and the professor. Powers helped her improve her PowerPoint presentations by having her define her content, with which he used to create visual depictions (e.g. diagrams and charts) to reinforce learning. In session three, the professor concluded that four assignments were crucial to assessing student learning: in-class participation, an individual midterm, group presentation, and an individual reflection assignment.
Not only is this because of the different types of data that the researcher is aiming for but also the process that leads to it. In both research techniques the researcher will identify an area of interest or come up with a question, however in quantitative research the researcher will then develop this research question into a hypothesis. This method can be referred to as theory verification. That is starting with a theory, developing it into a hypothesis and then designing a study or research plan to test the hypotheses (Punch, 2005). In quantitative research the researcher is not going in blind as they might in qualitative, they have an idea of what they want to achieve and the sort of information they need to find in order to do so.
There is evidence that utilising theoretical models is useful, because it provides structure to reflective practice and simplifies the complex task of reflecting on one's own performance (Turpin and Iwama 2007, p.68). Therefore, for the purpose of this particular assignment Gibbs’ Model of Reflection (Gibbs 1988) appears to be most suitable as it divides the complex reflective process into a number of specific components. Description In order to fulfill the requirements of the module I had to gain some theoretical and practical knowledge regarding the aims and purposes of inter-professional 14003797 education. I also had the opportunity to participate in a few group tasks before starting our specific group assignment of producing a poster which would promote the general theme of teamwork in a health care setting. These group tasks performed during seminars were designed as a fun way of enabling the students to get to now their group members better, gain the insight in our strengths, weaknesses, assets and points of potential development.

Self Assessment Paper Grand Canyon University I am a life-long visual learner innately curious about seeking a deeper understanding of human nature and the why of our behavior. Learning is the key component in developing my ability to cope with adapting, adjusting and finding new ways, approaches and techniques to improve my life. My best learning is by seeing what is being taught. I prefer visual representations such as textbooks, flash cards, charts, workbooks, lecture notes and even computer games. Additionally, whenever I approach anything, it is with a beginner’s mindset.
Reid (1993) defined reflection as a process of reviewing an experience of practice in order to describe, analyse, evaluate and so inform learning about practice. Read (1993), adds that reflective practice is potentially both a way of learning and a mode of survival and development once formal education ceases. Page and Meerabeau, (2000) described two fundamental forms of reflection: reflection-in-action, and reflection- on- action. Understanding the differences between these forms of reflection is important. It will assist practitioners in discovering a range of techniques they can use to develop their personal and professional competences.
