His values were based on the age old form of government; bureaucracy. This form government provides order, dependability, and stability. According to (Weber, 1922), a bureaucracy establishes a relation between legally instated authorities and their subordinate officials which is characterized by defined rights and duties, prescribed in written regulations; authority relations between positions, which are ordered systematically; appointment and promotion based on contractual agreements. As a leader in the public sector, Scanlan’s ethical standards of public leaders conformed to standards higher than those aligned with personal morality. In his commentary,(Gawthrop 2005) states that “as a government systems become more commonplace, the responsibility for promoting the ethical moral values of democracy rests most directly on the public managers and policymakers of democratic systems”.
Organizational structure is the stereotypically categorized agreement of power, connections, privileges, and obligations of an organization. It determines how the position, authority, and duties are dispersed, regulated, organized, and how the information is disseminated between the various ranks of management. A structure relies on the organization's goals and policy. There are two types of structures, centralized and decentralized structures. In a centralized structure, the senior management has the power to make decision and has a strong control over departments.
Chapter 13 - “Analyzing Managerial Decisions: Bagby Copy Company MBA 540 Michelle Wilson August 9, 2015 There are many advantages and disadvantages to specific vs. broad task assignment. Assigning specific tasks to workers allows the company to hire specifically based on the ability of the worker to do a very specific job. In this way efficiency can be increased as a worker should be performing the job that he is comparatively best suited to perform and nothing else. Competition amongst workers can also be increased as there is a specific metric to judge by. The cost of training a worker is also reduced as the worker does not have to be trained in every aspect of the company only what he is going to be doing.
Examples, Business Marketing Association (BMA), and Congressional Budget Office (CBO), are insider groups that are more powerful and are practically the part of the establishment. They are able to work closely and elect selected officials in the central and local government. It is not always an advantage since is it deliberated upon those with generally likeminded views to the government of the day. The limitations of the pluralist theory examples include optimism, social, political, economic capitol and overly contingent on the power of competition. Elitist Theory of Power and elitism Analyzed In all cultures and political organizations there is a small class of existence that include rulers and ones’ that make decisions.
The classical theory consists of organizational design that subdivides work and specifying tasks. The classical theory allows the different departments to run with efficiency by giving staff members different task to perform. The classical theory is composed of four elements: division and specialization of labor, chain of command, organizational structure, and span of command. Division and specialization of labor reduces the workload of the employee that will increase proficiency throughout the organization. The chain of command is authority, power, and responsibility delegated from high levels of authority to the lower levels.
Kaila Molzen November 8, 2012 Sociology 3310 Thomas Long Analysis of The German Ideology The German Ideology, written by German Sociologist, Karl Marx, gives us an understanding on how idealism and materialism work. As a German social thinker, Marx explored the different ideas of materialism. He approached his thinking in a new way that someone has not done in the past. He approached this idea of materialism by looking at economical and social conditions and what the results of those were, in which, to Marx, was this new idea of materialism. Marx mainly explored materialism by constructing two concepts: the social relations of production and the forces of productions.

Running head: STAFFING SYSTEM MANAGEMENT Staffing System Management Staffing an organization can vary greatly from one company to another. How the staffing function is structured depends on the company's size, type, strategy, budget, and staffing needs. Generally defined, staffing is the process of determining human resource needs in an organization and securing sufficient quantities of qualified people to fill those positions. Staffing is not, however, as simplistic as that definition would have one believes. Staffing is actually a complex endeavor involving a number of diverse tasks, ranging from job analysis to performance appraisal, from employment interviewing to career development, from hiring to termination.
Employee knowledge, experience, education, and performance would be reasons for differences in pay within a pay structure level. Someone who has more knowledge and experience should make more than someone who is just starting in a given job or career. In determining raises and other compensation, merit pay systems seem to be fairer than seniority pay systems. The text states that seniority pay and longevity pay systems reward employees with periodic additions to base pay according to employees’ length of service in performing their jobs. In my experience at working for an organization that uses seniority pay, there is not a lot of motivation to work harder than anyone else.
This advantage and the process of making the framework resulted in other advantages being developed like that when it would be implemented the employees would be less likely to resist since they assisted in its production. This bottom up approach would be part of establishing the sense of need for change as well as get the ‘as is’ state of organization (Steryn and Schmikl, 2013). However this advantage comes with high financial and time costs which are incurred during the development of the framework. This costs would also been seen in the training of new employees on the frame work since it’s only used at
