WEB 2.0 “Web 2.0, is also known as Next Web or Live Web is a collect of information technologies and applications, and the Web sites that use them” (Rainer Jr. & Turban, 2009, p. 146). Web 2.0 is extremely interactive and it encourages the user to “interact socially, participation and collaboration” amongst its users. Web 2.0 allows individuals to contribute not just view. Hyperlinking is the foundation of the web. As users add new content, and new sites, it is bound in to the structure of the web by other users discovering the content and lining to it. The web of connections grows naturally as an output of the collective activity of all web users. Also, unlike Web 1.0, Web 2.0 consists of information technologies, applications and collective intelligence. For instance, AJAX a developing technique that “speeds up response time”, whereas Tagging describes a piece of information, and Weblogs are personal web sites with the term bloggers referring to the individuals who create, use and update the weblogs. Collective intelligence website is wiki. Wikis are “sites that anyone can post material that promote collaboration” ” (Rainer Jr. & Turban, 2009, p. 147). The advantages of using Web 2.0 is that it is more user friendly and information can be extracted from a number of different places and can be personalized to meet the needs of users. The disadvantages of using Web 2.0 are the possible security issues and the overabundance of useless information. Also not all information obtained on Web 2.0 is trustworthy or reliable. Web 2.0 has impacted business exponentially. The impact of Web 2.0 on business has been tremendously advantageous for the business.
