FedEx would not leave packages to freeze on a cold day when no one was at home. (Salmon & Wylie, 1995) Therefore, we could know that there were several advantages from C&C’s business model. First, it reduced the time to deliver flowers from growers to final customers. Second, it helped C&C to provide a good quality product, a fresher flower. Third, it cut all intermediary commissions in the supply chain, so C&C could create its own competitive in this market.
Sustainable Agriculture in Hawaii Kelianne Miyaoka 10/8/14 My first exposure to the idea of “sustainability” came from my older sister a couple years ago, when she started to get interested in practicing a sustainable lifestyle. She constantly reminded me not to waste any of my food, to recycle all of my paper and plastic and to live simply. I used to think the lifestyle of sustainability was burdensome until I learned more about it and sustainability changed my life forever. Sustainability creates and maintains the conditions under which humans and nature can exist in productive harmony, that permit fulfilling the social, economic and other requirements of present and future generations. Sustainability is based on a simple principle that everything we need for our survival and well-being depends on our natural environment.
Many organizations are raising money to help put Greensburg back on the map. Greensburg’s City Council held a meeting and they decided to rebuild Greensburg “Green”. Leadership in Energy Environmental Design (LEED) is helping Greensburg live up to its name of being “Green”! The City Council held another meeting and approved a resolution that stated all city buildings must be built according to the LEED platinum rating. Platinum is the highest rating of going “green.” With the help of a non-profit organization called Greensburg Greentown they are working together to help Greensburg reach its town goal of using 100% of renewable energy 100% of the time.
Week 1 DQ Question 1 When considering sustainable business practices, many people first think of energy usage and pollution. What are other elements of sustainable business practices and products? In what way do these elements affect the overall sustainability of a business? Provide specific examples to support your answers. Recycling is the most common thing to think of.
Companies are forced to create safer products for the public to use, and also learn to make better with fewer resources. Corporations must invent new ways to cut down on their waste and work with less to create more. Corporations work diligently to cut down their use of water and electricity and other essential needs. They have educated the public about the importance of recycling used products and keeping their environment clean. Over consumption has led to many cures and medicines being created, and has made the world a better and safer place then it once was.
These expenses will show students the amount of money saved if students go green. Also, each types of recycling are used on campus, as it is important to examine building life and research behind constructing the buildings. References Luna, D., & Koman, M. (n.d.). Week 5 part Public relations Starbucks takes great value in its customers and their opinions and concerns; part of this is to team with groups and charities that are close to their customers. By routinely choosing charities that are aligned with their customers and societies’ current trends Starbucks helps to relate to their market (Gibb, 2013). For the launch campaign of the Frappuskini, Starbucks will also introduce a public relations campaign on the benefits of healthy living. Part of this campaign will be the choosing of a charity that is closely aligned to the product but also very current and important to people. For this campaign Start buck will donate a portion of proceeds to local food banks to ensure that others can eat.
It would be best if these technologies that make our lives so much easier and convenient would also make it easier for the entire planet. Pollution is a very big concern for everyone. Air, water, and noise pollutions are byproducts of modernization because humans have simply overlooked the environment for so long a time. Again, there is nothing wrong in wanting to advance to the next level - but we owe it to the planet to consider its needs as well. Now that so many groups and individuals (even businesses) have started to go green and to think green, it may not really be too late for this planet.
There are still some minute things that we can do as a community. Such as taking shorter showers, shutting off the water when it’s not in use, and washing your clothes when you have a full load. Another good way of being able to save water is to petition against stopping the ALS ice bucket challenge. The ALS ice bucket challenge is a great way of spreading word and awareness of the disease, but I feel like there is another way of going about it. On average about 320 gallons of water is wasted every day which is an estimated 19,000 homes that are wasting their daily water usage (Ice Bucket Challenge).
