War is a cowardly escape from the problems of peace. A quote by Thomas Mann refers to complexity of decision-making process. The problem of war and peace has always haunted the minds of intelligent people. Truly said, that by unleashing the war some leaders manage to conceal inner problems of the country, nevertheless most of the times they not only fail to obtain people’s favour, but also ruin their lives and national economy. Judging by the conflicts, which took place in the world’s history it is clear that leader’s self-centered ideas will lead to nothing great. A good example is a Falklands War. Speaking of which it is suffice to say that, Argentina had been in the midst of a devastating stagnation and large-scale civil unrest, so that’s why there was a vital need of raising patriotic feeling among the Argentinians. Blinded by their desires, Argentina’s leaders obviously forgot whom they were going to fight with. Hence, this resulted in a considerable casualty rate and large materiel loss for all the parties involved. I believe war is inescapable because it is just an outcome of a conflict. And conflicts has always been, they are and they will be. Although a war is an inevitable and natural process, in the recent years it has changed its shape. Nowadays it is more of an information war. Except the fact that, the aims of people hasn’t changed much. They still tend to seek confrontation and war as an easy way to gain money, power or land. It is a pity only quite a few people can understand the depth of Mann’s quote, where the core of a world’s discord is brilliantly depicted. The cowardice of war is not a great response to the complex problems of modern society. Wars are declared not on behalf of altruistic intentions, but rather for strategic and political purposes.
