------------------------------------------------- Wal-Mart’s Foreign Expansion Case Study Questions Answers 1. Do you think Walmart could translate its merchandising strategy wholesale to another country and succeed? If not, why not? I do not think Walmart can succeed in other countries other than the United States because Walmart’s food packaging is really big. Not a lot of countries like to buy their food for the whole week. At the countries I’ve been to, they like to go to the market everyday and buy what they are going to make for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Walmart cannot just go into any country and use the same strategy as in the U.S. If they were to expand to a different country, they cannot do it without researching first to see if it would work. The merchandising strategy will not succeed because it is a completely new environment and culture. 2. Why do you think Walmart was successful in Mexico? Walmart has stocked the Mexican stores with more produce and meats. The reason why it succeeds is because of adaption. You have to adapt in other to survive in different environments and economies. 3. Why do you think Walmart failed
