Her peak sales are around Easter and between October and New Years. Throughout the rest of the year she only prints a monthly flyer in the newspapers. Kathy also occasionally advertises in local printed materials that appeal to the upper class. With this limited amount of advertising, Kathy is not driving enough customers into her stores because people may not be aware that her company is in business.
I disagree completely that we as Americans suffer from lack of information about nutrition in fast food. Every capable adult knows that eating anything in a fast food restaurant is bad for you. They need to stop being lazy and letting their kids eat fast food frequently, especially if their kids are not very active. It is the responsibility of the parents to feed their kids three healthy meals a day and to make sure that they are maintaining a healthy diet. I do not believe that if fast food industries started putting nutrition labels on their food that it would have a significant difference on the amount of food that people eat.
These displays and advertisements really makes people want to come in and check out the deals that they have seen on those advertisements, so Target really drags people into their stores. Dissimilar form Wal-Mart, Target has no cheaper label to sell costumers the same individual features like the “Great Value” label, so that make Target more expensive than Wal-Mart. In Target if you find something cheaper than in their stores they will not make override it to make it the same price. The similarities between Wal-Mart and Target is that they both huge and powerful corporation stores. There are about 1,591 Target stores in the country, and about 9,600 Wal-Mart stores In the United States.
Being a fine foods store that specializes in foods that do not use any type of preservatives there will always be a problem with waste. To help curb this problem I propose implementing a system that allows Kathy to forecast sales by using data from previous years. This new system will not completely solve the problems with throwing away food but, it will help Kathy forecast what she needs and will help to ensure that she does not order more than necessary. The second issue which is the high-payroll problem is a little more difficult to deal with. A possible way to help compensate for these high salary positions is to allow other employees to train with the current butcher, baker, and wine
While Wal-Mart's methods are under scrutiny for the seeming forceful nature, but in reality they just have the power to push suppliers around and pressure small businesses to the brink. The retailer is brutally honest and straight forward about what they need and what they can get in their business ventures. Wal-Mart creates low prices by the threat of outsourcing and pitting suppliers against each other. If a supplier wants to change the terms of their agreement with Wal-Mart, they will simply be shoved aside and replaced by someone who will do what Wal-Mart wants. In order for small businesses to really gain an edge they have to diversify their products and exploit local suppliers, cash in on the advantage of a better enhanced customer experience, and with interaction within the nearby communities.
I believe that David Zinczenko in his article submitted to the New York Times “Don’t Blame The Eater” makes a good case for how society should be concerned about a generation facing a lifetime of childhood obesity, Type 2 diabetes, heart diseases and other related health complications. However I find that I feel personal responsibility should be the governing factor in this matter. Mr. Zinczenko asks in his article “ Shouldn’t we know better than to eat two or more meals a day in a fast food restaurant? ” Yes we should because although specific warning labels aren’t found on fast food packaging we’ve known for years that fast food consumption on a daily basis is hazardous to your health. There’s information readily available about childhood obesity as stated in Zinczenko’s article where he notes that “Before 1994, diabetes in children was generally caused by genetic disorder-only about 5 percent of childhood cases were obesity-related, or Type 2 diabetes.
A.S.A.P food is food that is processed as soon as possible and distributed as soon as possible. These companies compete for costumers daily in many different manners. So the question is why are people lead to the consumption of fast food in the first place? Some typical causes of fast food are the additive taste of the food, the advertising of food, the expense of the food, both parents are working, and longer hours at work. Everyday companies are trying to find new ways to keep customers at their restaurants.
