Wal-Mart Wal-Mart is known as a retail business and was the first franchise of the Ben Franklin-and-dime franchise located in Rogers, Arkansas. In 1962, the first Wal-Mart store was opened by founder, Sam Walton. Wal-Mart has 6,689 stores in 15 countries worldwide and employee’s 1.3 million workers in the United States (Global Exchange, 2007). The Wal-Mart franchise offers to its employee’s benefits that include the 401K plan, stocks and bonds, medical insurance, and employee discounts. Wal-Mart is the number one supplier for toys, clothes, food, sporting goods, some home appliances, and electronics most of which comes from China. The major global outsourcing is done with China, which is known as Wal-Mart’s largest resource center. Wal-Mart has developed global sourcing networks that allow them to identify factories all around the world that can supply their needs at a low price along with other features or specifications required by Wal-Mart. On any given day the diversity in Wal-Mart organizations are can be seen in the eyes of any single person who crosses into Wal-Mart country. One can see the diversity in the company, for example: walking through the front door of the store and seeing a senior citizen as a greeter. Even observing aisle width and how easily navigating aisles with baskets can be. Wal-Mart shows a great deal of diversity whether one indicates that the company has a long history of promoting from within the company before going outside when looking for the higher levels or management. For Wal-Mart to remain at the top of the retail ranks, the company has to introduce a new initiative that makes customers wants to continue coming through their doors. When one looks at the broad delegation that must take place by management, one can easily understand why that undertaking is easier when one thinks of Wal-Mart than when thinking of other
