Early vs. Late During a person’s life they will hear many different phrases. A phrase that may stick out the most is “the early bird catches the worm”. Is that phrase true? Yes. According to Andrew Hough from telegraph.co.uk, “A morning person often feels more awake, alert, happier, and more motivated than a late sleeper.” Some people even say that when they wake up late, they feel like they have wasted the whole day. There are many different advantages to waking up early vs. waking up late, such as; productivity, performance, health, and psychological benefits. Productivity is becoming a rising need in America. As America gains a faster pace, productivity is important to get things done. Early risers are more likely to have a better productivity rate than late sleepers because they have more time in the day. For most college students, it is better to be an early riser. Most students agree that taking early classes is the better option. If a student takes an early class, they will have more time to get work done. A study from sleepfoundation.org states that better grades are coming from better time management, which is being productive. If a person wakes up early, they are more likely to be productive because they may feel like they have more time in the day to finish everything compared to being rushed like a late sleeper would be. Also, productivity would be greater from an early riser because a person who is a late riser may feel like they will never have enough time in the day to get work done. So, a late riser may just turn in whatever work they got done without it being finished. The performance quality of early risers is greater than late sleepers. An early riser is more likely to perform better due to being awake longer. A late sleeper will take more time to wake up and function.
