Many people choose to live their lives focusing on their careers, with their minds set on how much money they can make, others live their lives focusing on how popular they are, with their minds constantly wondering what other people’s opinions are of them. Very few people live their lives focusing completely on sports, more specifically, on volleyball. With all the backbreaking hours of practice, and the constant critiquing of my technique, there still is no end to my passion for volleyball. Even when my body aches and is covered in bruises, and my skin is torn by the court, and all I want to do is give up, that’s when I push myself harder. I constantly strive to be the best I can be because I know one day all of my hard work will pay off. There is one game in particular that stands out in my mind more than any other game. We were at nationals playing the Iowa Rockets, we had already lost the first game and we were now in the second game. This game determined whether or not my team made it to the national championship game and accomplished our goal of winning the national title. We were getting closer to them in score when our coach called a time out. All twelve of us players ran to our coach with our hearts pounding and sweat dripping from our foreheads eager to hear what she had to say.
