Andy Goldsworthy and Tracey Moffatt are post-modern artists who have very different ideas but portray strong messages to society. Andy Goldsworthy uses the environment to create works and Tracey Moffatt uses the idea of growing up and Aboriginal identity and rights for her ideas to come across. Both Moffatt and Goldsworthy leave the audience with a variety of mixed reactions and criticism to their art works which are good motifs for an artist of these kinds.

Meaning through observance The experience one has while viewing an art piece is in many ways unique to the individual. Although an artist may create a painting with the goal of conveying a particular purpose or emotion, it is the mind of the viewer that extrapolates and creates the final meaning. Therefore, a visual art piece can act as a mirror reflecting the character of a viewer through his or her own subjective interpretations. The Art Gallery of Ontario contains many painting cause one to stop and think. A particularly interesting piece is the Portrait of Dr. Heinrich Stadelmann by the German painter Otto Dix.
Therefore when we make painting of water, cloud then it is an art, but when a person look at reality of water and clouds is not art. There are different aspects of art such as narrative, expression, and formal. A formal aspect of art is anything that has lines, shapes, values, color, texture, pattern, rhythm, balance, scale, proportion, and motion. Formal quality of art is based on the values of people, their culture and the way of people’s thinking. There are different types of arts and those arts can be compared and contrasted in one way or the other.
This question has often been asked, and the boundaries between craft and art are often contested. Is it that art evokes meanings and emotions far beyond what the viewers observe, while craft remains the underlying basis of art? Or is it that a craftsperson is someone who practices their skilled craft, and an artist is someone who cares about their craft, cares how it looks, how it’s presented, if it will inspire and what is its intended purpose. Some believe craft is the use of materials for something practical that has some individuality but limited imagination. As soon as the creativity hits a higher level and the work assumes its own identity, whether it has a function or not, that is when it becomes art.
Art is a way of expressing values, feelings, meanings and ideas. A human’s natural instinct is to communicate with others and throughout history artists have achieved ways to communicate through their art pieces, its and artists way of responding to their surroundings in society, both natural and manmade. Artists explore natural human conditions through their work such as love and grief. Art is intetended to be viewed by an audience, it is a social function to inform and educate. Its often for a function, aesthetic appeal to express, it is a state of mind.
April 11, 2012 The Moment In-Between We are in a world of the known and the unknown. Some of us tend to stick to the known for their own reasons and some would prefer to understand the things that we can only imagine. In the world of art we see many ideas and interpretations of both. When coming across a piece called Vessel by an artist named Sarah Wiseman, I found the feeling of being in-between the known and unknown. The artwork had subjects that looked very familiar but took on a form that left room for the imagination.
By using different literary methods authors are able to give their readers a better understanding of the message behind the piece of work. Using methods such as themes and symbolism allows readers to find the underlying meaning of the story rather than just simply reading something with no meaning or emotion behind it. While reading Robert Frost’s Poem The Road Not Taken and Eudora Welty’s short story A Worn Path, people get a sense that life is a lonely place full of sacrifice at times. Although these two pieces are different, their use of symbolism gives readers a better understanding of the characters in each work and figure out their real struggles with the choices they make. Literature is meant to take its readers to another place and allow them to become part of it, whether it be a story or a poem or play.
