Before I took this class I thought that a person’s development was based mostly on their nature. Nurture is how someone is raised. Nature is what is in someone’s genetics. For example, someone can be intelligent due to genetics which they received from their parents. An example, for nurture would be children would hit other children because that is what their parents did to them. So the child repeated what their parents did. I do have to say that my views on the influence of nature and nurture have changed as a result of Virtual Child. Since my child was a boy I named him Bentley. At the age of two Bentley would follow the rules and routines very well. But, once in a while he would mess up. I did not think that he needed a lot of guidance and support because he knew what to do. As a result I thought that his behavior is due to nature. I think that the way he behaved was from his genetics, because I my parents said that I behaved the same way when I was a child. Another example, I have is when I wanted Bentley to put on his jacket before he went outside to play.…show more content…
He would imitate what I did. For example, Bentley would hold, rock, and feed the baby. I think this is an example of nurture because he saw how I was taking care of the baby, so it is kind of like he is trying to do the same thing. Also, it is like he growing and learning to do the same thing as me. Furthermore, when Bentley is in a social environment like pre-school he is not aggressive and instead he is very active. This could be nature and nurture. On one hand nature because I think it is in his genes. I was very active and not aggressive at all. But, on the other hand I also think it is nurture because that is how we have been raising him. Which is to not be aggressive, and we do many activities with him.
