Banning Violent Video Games from the Open Market

      Have you ever played violent video games? If yes is the answer, then an assumption can be made that you are familiar with certain games such as Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, Halo and Dante‚Äôs Inferno. Although some of us might find pleasure and relieve by playing this type of game, but certain segments of the society still perceive those games negatively. It is not a secret that a huge portion of the society put the blame on violent video games as the main influence that drove children to commit massacres in schools. Based on several scientific studies, an initial conclusion can be made that, although some people might find it acceptable to legalize violent video games, we think that it is inappropriate to do so.

      Generally, we knew that the society perceived violent video games in a very negative way and propose that violent video games should be banned. Although it is the general perception of the society, some of them do support legalization of violent video games to the market. This is due to opponents of banning violent video games from the market claiming that there is no causal link between violent video games and aggressive behaviour (Dr. Craig A. Anderson, PhD). Secondly, they contend that violent video games researchers have yielded very mixed results. Besides, there are so few studies and the lack of representative samples, we cannot put much confidence in the size of correlations made by some scientists on this topic (Jonathan L. Freedman).   Small body of research does not constitute the conclusions that they made. According to them, those researches are far from perfect. To refute the first claim, Dr. Craig A. Anderson offers his own reason based on his own research. According to him, high levels of violent video game exposure have been linked to delinquency, fighting at school and during free play periods, and violent criminal behaviour (e.g., self-reported assault, robbery) (Dr. Craig A....
