Some athletes can be role models, and some can be an example of what not to do or be like if you are striving to reach the professional athlete level. Playing sports are fun and fun to watch, but it seem as though when an athlete began to get paid to play, the love for the game go out of the window. As I watch athletes perform, they are giving their best in order to win the game. Fans love to see their favorite team leave it all on the field or court, win or lose, but prefer a win. Some fans take a lost to the extreme.
Gary Cornish English 4 King Concussions In Football Is football too dangerous of a sport? Many have began to argue this issue from the NFL all the way down to peewee football. In the NFL there has made an effort to create a safer game but football is not meant to be played safe. With the athletes playing in the NFL getting stronger and faster, the chance of injury is growing. But with all sports comes injury and football is as bad as it gets.
Several types of noise were shown in this movie. At practice, the players discussed the way their tiredness and thirst, physiological noise, were affecting their performance. Physical noise was rampant at the games. Fans intentionally get really loud while the other team is on offense to confuse them and hopefully mess them up. The coaches and teammates had to yell at each other so they could hear what plays to run over all the noise in the stadium.
It is the defenders who do the job of winning the ball for their team and sending the ball across the field to their forward. It is also the defender who always covers the offensive player when they loose the ball and the opposing team takes possession to try and score. Defenders always have to be ready an alert to back up their team mates whenever something happens. They do not really have the comfort of making mistakes since even a little fault on their part could result in a goal for their opponents, which could cost them the
If somebody is going to play overly-aggressive and borderline dirty, they will most-likely have to deal with fighting somebody on the opposing team, who is simply protecting his star players. Technically gifted players such as Wayne Gretzky and Mario Lemieux were able to accomplish so many things in the National Hockey League because they were protected by their teammates that were ready to fight anybody that touched Wayne or Mario. Eliminating fighting is not a solution to useless violence either because, without fighting, if there were a conflict, players would try and get revenge on their opponents with head shots and checking from behind rather than simply resolving all conflicts with a 30-second fight. Furthermore, if you think that the banishment of fighting will minimize violence, then you should probably consider watching a real hockey game before making such a ridiculous statement. A man by the name of Jim McKenny said it best: “Half the game is mental; the other half is being mental.” Hockey is violent so if you don’t like violence, then don’t watch hockey; and definitely don’t try to change the
1 Essay 3- Topic #4 Violence and Competition are Everywhere Whether it be through news stations, videogames, TV shows, movies, or sports, Americans are constantly being exposed to violence. Especially in sports, not only is there often verbal violence among the fans, but there’s even physical violence when it comes to the competitive aspect between the players themselves. For this reason, the youth anxious to become part of a team have been converted into spectators rather than participators. Author Michael Kinahan’s satirical email entitled “Losing is for Losers,” discusses this topic of violence and competition and has the reader believe that America is noncompetitive because competition often involves violence. Chris Jones’ essay “In Defense of the Fistfight,” also revolves around the topics violence and competition, but takes a different perspective.
Players to Officials Soccer can be an interesting sport depending how you look at it. If you look at the game through the eyes of the players, you may not like it. If you look at the game through the eyes of official, you could like it and vice versa. These two people have striking similarities and differences when you analyze the jobs of each individual. Who knows, maybe you will become one of these incredible people.
The athletes are encountered with pressure that is unfair and high demand from the public which makes the decision between right and wrong harder for them and it is why Alex took steroids once they were offered. So Moller’s argument comes down to whether or not the blame are being put on the players. But since the decision lies in the players hands, the public affects their decision almost provoking it which shifts the blame to the public. Also Moller uses a logos argument to illustrate some players that were also cheating and the extent they were willing to gain an edge. Some of them were Sammy Sosa, Johnny Damon, Pete Rose and others.
Introduction To some people sports may just seem like a game, essentially making the athletes grown kids playing instead of working a real job, but to others sports are much more. Fans of cities, states, and even countries have planned their lives around sporting events, and for decades, sports stars have been role models. Performance enhancers such as steroids have come to play a major role in sports today, and athletes caught using them have become detrimental to the young athletes who emulate them. Athletes caught using steroids are essentially cheaters at their specific sport, and are setting bad examples for the children who look up to them. Also, they are creating an uneven playing field and athletes not taking any type of illegal performance enhancing drugs are finding it harder to stay competitive with other athletes who are not as legitimate.
As you watch your next football game, you will see that the rules need to be revised. Fining the players is just wasting their money. It isn’t their fault they are playing hard and being aggressive. It is called a contact sport for a reason. Football is a sport of discipline, mental and physical toughness, hard-work and sacrifice.
