Game makers and publishers make a lot of money by creating video games that can appeal to many audiences. In fact, the competitions in video game industries are very competitive these days as a technology advances. From the simplicity of Super Mario Brothers, the video games are becoming more violent, graphical and harsh. The developers not only focus on something better, but they want something big. The gaming industry evolves and becomes an aspect of what the world represents.
Over 11,300 books have been challenged since 1982 (11,300 Books You Shouldn’t Read). Banning certain books is a topic of much discussion between parents and education professionals. Some believe that children are being restricted by not being able to read books that have been banned for one reason or another. They believe it violates their right to read and that they are missing out on some really good books. Although banning books deemed inappropriate holds its advantages, books should be banned because of their sexual information or explicit nature and unsuitability for certain age groups.
Thus, if a user wishes to purchase the Nintendo game cartridges (software), he/she will have to purchase the Nintendo hardware. The incompatibility across competing hardware systems and video game software creates and sustains this network effect. The video game industry is also an example of a two-sided market in that the console producer acts as an intermediary between consumers and video game developers. As such, consumer demand depends on video game developers providing a variety of games, and video game developers desire a large user base for which to produce and sell games (without users, producing the game is useless). The industry also has positive network effects in that as the console user base increases, so does the number of video game cartridges sold.
The media often influences people to behave in certain ways and this leads them to copy what they have seen or heard in the media. These are commonly referred to as copy-cat incidents. One famous example of imitation is the James Bulger case whereby 2 boys of ten years old murdered a toddler because they had seen this behaviour in violent films. Copy-cat behaviour is not always negative and some people may try to copy the behaviour of entrepreneurs that they have seen on Dragon’s Den. However, the theory of imitation is often criticised as there is not sufficient evidence to suggest that audiences passively accept and copy what they see in the
The overthrow of reading materials is defeat of creative thought. Books and periodicals are not the only ones being suppressed by pressures to the political and social systems. They are also being brought against the educational system, films, radio, television, and against the graphic and theatre arts. However or whenever these attacks occur, they usually fall at least one of the following categories: religion, war & peace (violence), sociology & race, language, drugs, sex, inappropriate adolescent behavior The word censorship probably would not exist today if all citizens agreed upon all things. This however is not possible for we are all unique individuals and have our own likes and dislikes.
The term exploitation is used heavily in film marketing as reference to what a movie will take advantage of in order to be more appealing to audiences. Themes are often sensationalist and exaggerated at the expense of the quality of the cinema, effectively labelled by academics as paracinema. Many aspects of the production can be exploited, such as using violence or sex to lure viewers. Movies such as these became extremely popular during the 60's and 70's in response to less censorship. However exploitation films in the 30's and 40's took on a more innocuous role in claiming to be educational in nature.
And besides, this is the sort of reaction you would most likely get from a guy when he is deprived of any female contact within a school environment. I say that this book should not be banned. Yes there is violence but we are used to it already. It seems immoral but people are allowed to have their own opinions. There may be a large amount of inappropriate language but we have heard it already.
News corporations attract viewers’ attention in order to make money, basically benefiting themselves. Networks attract viewers to increase ratings, so that when they would get more advertisers, meaning more profit that they will obtain. News bias make audiences reflect upon the truth of the stories that are being portrayed. There are several deception stories in which the News denied on releasing these types of stories, but in truth, they really are exaggerated perspectives of their own. TV news simply reflects only on one side of the story, and leaves the viewer the other side of the story untold; this is the reason why TV news is biased.
Censorship in television really relies on the person whom is watching either TV or a movie. But in most cases there is an underage kid who cannot watch certain things that should be censored and not all channels and movies are censored. Programs shown over television may contain offensive language or visuals, which may be harmful for the viewers like children. I believe that all programs on television should be censored by the government or a responsible group or even
Gun control has always been a controversial topic. The deadly trigger has been known to kill many people through accidents and cold blooded murders. Some people fear that guns cause crimes and negatively impact society and as a result, feel that there should be some sort of ban or restriction placed on guns. However, others fear for their own security and believe that guns are needed for self defense and the restriction of guns will only go against their right to bear arm, as promised by the Second Amendment. Guns are fairly popular these days.
