The Vikings boats in realty was well built for the time and the Vikings not cram all those soldiers on the boats. Diamond also makes a point about the Vikings because the primary source in the “Discovering the Global Past” shows that the boats were not sturdy and the Vikings crammed many men in one boat. But Diamond shows in his book that the Vikings traveled to many parts to the globe and setup many new territories and in-order to accomplish this; they Vikings must have had very well built ships. Evidence that can cloud the way we see the Vikings today is that
They were used as a weapon, which Harold didn’t have. The horses could run a lot faster, and they were much stronger than humans. This would have helped William’s army, since they had more energy to fight and they didn’t have to use their legs, as for Harold’s army they had to walk and run which made them become more tired and had less energy to fight. Another reason why the Normans were successful was because they were very lucky. When the Harold’s army were up at Stamford Bridge fighting the Vikings, the wind had changed and the Normans could go to invade.
Many Greek Myths were love stories, such as Venus and Adonis, Cupid and Psyche, though most of these stories didn't end well, if you read them they are much more light and slightly fluffy in contrast to the Norse myths that were mostly about battle and ended with violent deaths like the story of beowulf. Aesir gods ( Norse gods) were seen as more powerful and less distracted than the Greek gods, also many of the Greek gods were deemed more beautiful and appealing than the Norse. Although it stands to reason that the Norsemen and Greek adapted
What is their main intention of attacking the monastery of Lindisfarne? In this essay, I will discuss that the Vikings are not a race of people but a band of different race with the purpose of plundering innocent people to cause fear, to search for wealth, and to establish a colony. These ancient pirates, as described by Tacitus, might have originated from their German tribe ancestors called the Suiones from the first century (Reilly 254). He said they were tall and strong men in weird looking ships with a “prow” at both ends. These boats have no sails and usually have
Finally, Native Americans did not have a lot of major diseases before Europeans arrived and did not develop the immunity to a lot of the diseases they had in Europe. After Europeans arrived, all of the things changed for the Native Americans. One good thing that came for them was they could trade for new or better goods. Europeans brought things that the Native Americans had never seen before like armor, horses, and foods and could now try and trade for this. Europeans however also brought advanced weapons like guns and they traded for a few but mostly the guns conquered the Native Americans.
To what extent did the Nazis remain in power due to support from popular policies? The Nazis ruled germany from 1933 to 1939 and were relatively unchallenged. This is a source of debate given that when they came to power although they were the most popular party they had never won the majority of public support in elections and Hitler had twice been beaten by Hindeburg in the Presidential election. Furthermore once in power the Nazi power was limited as Hitler only had 2 other nazis' in the government. The reason behind their remaining in power has been put down to genuine support gained from popular policies introduced by Hitler.
Unlike nuclear DNA, mitochondrial DNA is not usually unique to individuals, but it is far more prevalent in the body and more likely to be found when remains are very old, or not much is left, hence its frequent use in forensic investigations. The DNA signature shared by the skeleton, Ibsen and the third individual, called haplotype J1c2c, is quite rare, says King, making the match a strong argument for relatedness. Only a few percent of Europeans carry it. “They’ve built a strong forensic case,” says anthropologist John Hawks of the University of Wisconsin–Madison. The analyses of the remains have not yet appeared in a peer-reviewed journal, he notes.
This was not relevant to Afghanistan because Afghanistan did not contain any desirable goods. Because of this, the Imperialism of Afghanistan was an unusual situation. Imperialism in Afghanistan occurred during the time period known as the “Great Game”. The Great Game refers to the conflicts between the British and Russian empires. Both empires were expanding at a rapid pace as they successfully conquered many different lands (Afghan Wars).
Knives, when used in a fight, seldom kill another person besides the intended victim as well. But those are poor examples to use to promote blades over bullets.
* -the russians called it "economic imperialism", the marshell plan the truman doctrine, just pumping money into any country that had any fear of a communist take over to stop the domino effect, they did this all over the world, but you can see it mainly in europe, although these friendly loans really set africa progress back quite alot and crippled many a country. * -The USA used stopping Soviet expansion as an excuse for what they did across the world. But as soon as the USSR fell, they continued to expand, even though there wasn't a USSR to "contain." The US military has around 700 military bases around the world. The USSR didn't even have 100 military bases.
