Huck Finn Literary Analysis “I refuse to accept the view that mankind is so tragically bound to the starless midnight of racism and war that the bright daybreak of peace and brotherhood can never become a reality.... I believe that unarmed truth and unconditional love will have the final word.” ~Martin Luther King, Jr. As stated in this quote, MLK Jr. is making fun of the white race being so attached to discriminating blacks. This relates back to the year of 1885 when Mark Twain had written The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn to make fun of whites and the racism from whites to blacks. In The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, Mark Twain utilizes Huck Finn and Pap to satirically clarify man’s inhumanity to man. Mark Twain was considered one of America’s most famous literary icons. Mark Twain was born on November 30, 1935. Twain’s real name was Samuel Clemens but later Mark Twain became his pen name. He wrote 28 books and many different short stories, sketches, and letters. The first book he wrote was called “The Innocents Abroad”, which was published in 1869. Another famous book he wrote was called “The Adventures of Tom Sawyer”. The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn is considerably his most famous book of all time. He died at the age of 88 on April 21, 1910. The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn was criticized in many different views. Some critics thought it was “racist trash” because it mentions the N-word 212 times in the book. The book has been banned in high-school reading curriculums among the nation because of the frequent use of the N-word. Some critics have also thought it was “a great piece of American Literature” because of the descriptions and emotions portrayed in this book. The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn was published in 1885. Mark Twain wrote the book in the old English used back in his time so the dialect was different when used by the characters.
