Veteran’s Day Bravery, courage, patriotism, and sacrifice. These are the reasons we acknowledge our veterans. A veteran is a man or a women who have served, and continue serving everyday. We truly owe everything to our veterans. They risk their lives to fight for our country; they risk never getting to see their families again. In the Korean war there were 5,720,000 men and women fighting worldwide. My uncle Harlen happened to be one of them. He was 23 years old when he got a letter in the mail saying, “Your friends and neighbors have selected you” which meant he was being drafted to the Korean war. He served from January 1951 to December 1953. He said the worst part of the war was just being there and being on the front line. Harlen
