Veterans keep the story alive of the wars they fought in and teach the younger generations. I cannot imagine a world without veterans, the freedom lost, the patriotism missing from our hearts. Veterans have stood up for our country and helped us get some of the things we have now. They protected our nation, and without them our country may not have had a future. They kept us safe, sacrificing their lives to save ours.
This is a story about my grandfather Eugene "Gene" Mitchell, known to me as papaw Gene. Papaw Gene was Mom"s Dad. Papaw was born on February 7, 1938 in Yukon, West Virginia. Yukon is in the Appalachian Mountians and back in papaw's youth the major industry was coal mining. Papaw didn't want to be a coal miner so he dropped out of hihgh school and joined the army for two years.
His actions made him someone that his Regiment were proud and happy to follow. I feel that Colonel Shaw’s last action showed a great example of a true leader for the soldiers. In their final battle, he fought in front of them and not behind them. He put his life on the line for them and died showing just how much he respected them back. Sadly in the end, he died right beside half of his Regiment, but I’m sure that he also died with pride and dignity.
The core values are much more than the standard for work, they are a standard for life. We volunteered to serve our country and should remember that our individual actions define not just us but also the Air Force. These are the standards that not only our superiors expect of us, but more importantly our team members. The bond we create through training and war is a bond built upon these values. The three Air Force Core Values reminds myself of the way I was raised and the morals my family instilled in my mind.

As a United States soldier, I also have be trained that it takes hard work, motivation, and dedication to make your dreams come true. Gen. Powell once said “It takes personal hard work and dedication for you to become all that you can be”. On the base of my belief I find this statement to be so true. I've never depended on anyone and never wanted to. I set goals for myself and inspite of everything I've gone through, I've accomplished them and in some cases exceeded them.
We had been living in the south for about thirty years. I am married and have 4 children. My husband was a teacher and also a soldier because at that time my country need teacher to change to soldier. There was a big war again and many people died by the bomb. We couldn't count them, and the communist killed many people, and many houses burned.
The flag represents the soldiers that have fought at home and abroad to ensure that we retain the very freedoms that allow us to protest the wars that they are fighting. The flag represents all of our servicemen, not just the ones who are fighting to keep us safe today, but the heroes of WWI, WWII, Vietnam, Korea, The Revolutionary War and even the Civil War. All of these brave soldiers fought under one form of our nation’s
I am one of those people. The men and women of the doctor profession are held under constant pressure to save peoples’ lives, and keep them living for many more years to come. I would definitely call them heroes, because they have to deal with people putting their entire faith in them just to save some one’s life. When they do, or even if they don’t you know that they have tried their hardest to keep them alive. Sometimes there is just nothing they can do and that’s when people start to lose respect for doctors because sometimes they can’t save everyone.
Another Army value that would go together with duty would be selfless service. Selfless service is the act of putting once self before a particular group. The group that we as soldiers put ourselves before is the citizens of our country and other counties that need our assistance such as Iraq and Afghanistan. It is the value that would instill duty in us as a soldier. Without selfless service, we would not be in the Army performing our duties today.
