Ten 1. Theme- The theme of this book is “Vengeance is mine”. The author reveals the theme in a sinister video the teens watch the first night they stay on the island. Throughout the book you learn that vengeance really was theirs, and someone was truly out to get them. The main character, Meg, found a diary of a dead classmate in her coat pocket and on one of the first pages, she reads “and their doom comes swiftly” (McNeil, 139). Another example is “Does he know how I feel? How much it hurts” (McNeil, 210). About a chapter before Meg and T.J. read that diary entry, their friend Nathan was found hanging from a door with an arrow in his chest going straight through his heart. 2. Character- Meg. She is a quiet, smart, caring, and curious teenage writer. Her mood was very cautious, loving, and sometimes extremely scared. She tried her best to keep a positive attitude about things while coming to realization that everyone around her were dropping like flies. She was constantly trying to figure out who the killer was and was close to unmasking him a couple of times. Her mood was caused after she saw the first dead body hanging in the stairwell, and as they always say... Curiosity killed the cat. 4. I found this book in the school library; I was drawn in by the picture on the front and the text at the bottom right hand corner of the corner that read “Ten teens. Three days. One killer”. That line right there made me automatically want to know everything that was inside. When I turned to the back, the few paragraphs reeled me in even more, I was like a fish on a hook and this book was my bait. My new favorite types of books are murder-mysteries, they always keep you guessing and the suspense is killer. I absolutely loved this book, and I have already recommended it to half the people I
