Vaccination Important For Our Children Shinumol Sabu DENG102: English Composition I Tracey Mastrape 11/16/2013 Causal Essay “Most anti-vaccine books claim that all shots are bad, that diseases aren't really anything to fear, and as long as you live a natural and healthy lifestyle, you don't have to worry. I think this is a very irresponsible approach to the vaccine issue. Vaccines are beneficial in ridding our population of both serious and non-serious diseases.”(Robert W. Sears).Nothing is more tragic than a baby or young child dying from a disease that could have been prevented from a simple vaccine. Vaccinations save lives. Diseases kill or disable young healthy lives and older adults whose immune system is breaking down. Vaccinations ensure a lower incidence of the causative agent in a population and prevent a bacteria or a virus from infecting its victims. Bacteria flourish and grow inside a vulnerable healthy victim that does not have a mature immune system. Viruses are much more insidious attacking cells, killing cells, or laying dormant in cells for years. Only to rear their destructive nature as a persons’ immune system becomes more fragile. Some germs are so potent it takes several vaccinations throughout ones’ lifetime to stop the incidence of infection all-together. Vaccinations work by exposing a healthy immune system to a small ineffective or non-living derivative of a bacteria or virus; allowing a persons’ immune system to build up anti-bodies to the weak version of the germ.
