Utopia Based On Pol Pots Beliefs

Utopia My task for this project is to create a utopia based on the ideas of a chosen individual who had clear ideas on what the perfect world should look and be like. My chosen person is the Cambodian dictator called Pol Pot. The definition of a utopia is:” an imagined place or state of things in which everything is perfect. The word was first used in the book Utopia (1516) by Sir Thomas More.“ My task is to create a perfect and ideal place based on the beliefs of Pol Pot, on the island Madagascar. Pol Pot was the son of a well-educated man who had many useful connections. Pol Pot never worked hard in school and gained poor grades, but due to these connections he received a stipendium in Paris. While he stayed in Paris he joined the communist party and concentrated more on politics then on his education. After receiving bad grades he lost his stipendium and went back to Cambodia where he now also joined the new-formed communist party. After years he became the leader and was chased into the jungle near the Vietnamese border by the royal family. Here he united a lot of farmers to work as an army called the red Khmer. With this army he overwhelmed the palace and gave everybody living in the capital Phnom Penh 48 hours to leave the city. Whoever didn’t leave the city received the death penalty. In addition to this he tried to kill every doctor and teacher or other persons that are more educated than other. He made every person move out of the city into the countryside to live and work as farmers. He believed that it was important that every living being has the same right so he found it easier to reduce the rights of people than give them rights. He believed that if everyone were a farmer there would be no class system. No doctors who would earn a lot of money while other people died of hunger. Now with him in power there were only 3 levels on the pyramid. The
