Abstract Miss E wanted to use hypnosis to succeed in her attempt to lose weight, specifically two and a half stone for an upcoming girl’s holiday in three months’ time. In the initial consultation, further information was gathered to enable further understanding of Miss E’s current situation and any events in her personal history that may be contributing to her present feelings and concerns regarding her weight. The reasons why an individual overeats may not always be clear. As such, activities that result in being overweight create long term physical and emotional damage and the origins or cause for overeating are usually buried deep in the subconscious. Introduction and Initial Consultation Miss X is 29 years old and has issues with her weight from the start of adolescence, around approximately 12 to 13 years of age and her parents criticised her appearance. She has recently come out of a long term relationship, the relationship ended six months ago. She has tried many diets in the past some more successful than others, however within a reasonably short period of time after each attempt to lose weight, she has re-gained the weight she has lost. This time she wants to lose two and a half stone as she is going on an all-girls holiday in three months’ time. In the treatment of Miss E, it will be vital to isolate the reasons for her overeating in order to help her through the process of hypnosis. Working in hypnosis, we must work with the subject’s particular issue, that is, the underlying reason or reasons for weight gain and the inability to lose it. This must not be done by depriving them as this will not serve to address the issue, but more the reprogramming of the subconscious into eating properly and taking pride in
