A Campus of Our Own: Thoughts of a Reluctant Conservative In her 1996 essay, “A Campus of Our Own: Thoughts of a Reluctant Conversation”, Susan Saltrick describes her experience with technology moving from a positive thing to a negative thing. In her 39th year she began noticing more often that she was becoming middle aged. She found herself being grouped in with the “conservative of the new media scene.” She further stated that her views have changed to just say no to technology, and worries she may even switch political parties at the next election. She was not overly happy about this situation she found herself in, as someone that spent 12 years being a “cheerleader” for new media and speaking of the great potential that technology would bring for society in education and digital adventure to her social groups, and mainly accepting this information as reality herself. That is until her thoughts were provoked about the navigate affects of technology in our education systems, with everything digital, what is the point of having a physical education center.
She is now ready to look for another partner but she is scared as her previous partner of 6 years was very controlling and almost seemed to want her to stay overweight. She has struggled with her weight since she was 12 or 13 and her parents badgered her about being unattractive and eating too much. She has tried many diets but always seems to put the weight back on again after a while. She is going on an all girls’ holiday in 3 months and hopes to have lost weight by then. For hypnosis to be an effective weight loss tool the client will need to be prepared to alter their lifestyle and eating habits with the assistance of the therapist who will enable them to understand the workings of their detrimental eating patterns and ultimately change them.

One example which shows this is the case of Juliet. Juliet had been obese until she lost six stone two years ago. Obesity is a Body Mass Index (the relationship between weight, height, sex and age) of greater than 30kg/m2, where body fat has accumulated to a health-threatening extent. She lost 5 pounds at the first trimester of pregnancy because her stomach felt sick. Gina felt much better after the 4th month of pregnancy and gained almost 20 pounds at the end of her pregnancy. Gina knew that prenatal care should start before getting pregnant, but she did not know the medical system in the U.S.A.
Pre-pregnancy: Following a healthy balanced diet before a woman becomes pregnant will allow her to build up reserves of the nutrients vital to the unborn baby in the first three months. Mothers with a history of poor nutrition before conception will have low nutrient stores, consequently the growing baby may have reduced access to the nutrients needed for growth and development. Therefore prior to conception women should be advised to follow a healthy balanced diet based on the eatwell plate. Pregnancy: Every pregnant woman hears about ‘eating for two’ but the best information available today suggests that this is not good advice. Research shows that the quality (not quantity) of a baby’s nutrition before birth lays the foundation for good

Physical changes: A physical change which occurs only in women as they reach old age is menopause, however in some circumstances this can occur in younger women. As NHS, (2012) tells us, ‘menopause is also known as the ‘change of life’ and is the end of menstruation.’ This then means that a woman will stop producing an egg every 4 weeks, as a result of this she will no longer have a period or be able to have children. During menopause the first sign for women will be a change in the pattern of her monthly period. Women will experience physical changes such as hot flushes and night sweats, headaches, loss of libido, palpitations, vaginal dryness and itching or discomfort during sexual intercourse and also urinary tract infections. Women may also experience psychological changes such as mood changes which could include depression, anxiety or tiredness and also insomnia.
Growing population can very quickly drain our natural resources, especially our nonrenewable. So what the U.N. should do is curb the population. One idea is to get women more educated about family, size cost, troubles, and cautions from pregnancy. The government would pay for this, and hire state of the art teachers to talk with females for a three day period. This period would occur in health class sometime over the course of the year.
