It can either better the condition of the person or worsen it. Drug use however, is a process that requires that an individual knows all the repercussions that it poses so that they can be able to use it in the right way. Those that are meant to be subscribed by a practitioner should not be used haphazardly. There should be certain rules that should be followed when they are being used. Individuals should be able to know that it requires the prescription of the practitioner in order for them to be effective in their bodies (Volkow, 2009). On the other hand, non-medically prescribed use of drugs entails the use of drugs that were either not prescribed to the party using it, using it in a manner that was not prescribed to them or using the one that was prescribed to someone else. Most of the times the individual can take the dosage of the drugs in a manner that exceed the prescribed one. For example, young people can use the drugs that are prescribed for their relatives, friends or those that they treat that are helpful to them to feel high, or treat pain. They normally use the drugs not because it has some directives from a recognized professional practitioner but because of their own individual reasons. Some of the drugs that are commonly abused by the youths include; stimulants, central nervous system depressants, opiods among others. The use of stimulants assists to treat sleeping disorders, increasing the levels of dopamine in the brain, a chemical that is known for its power of increasing pleasure, attention as well as movement.
