Landlines aren't safe to use during lightning storms. People are injured and killed every year from talking on a wired landline phones during lightning storms. Cell phones are safer to use during electrical storms because there isn't a direct path connecting you and the lightning. Plus if you have cordless phones they won’t work if the power goes out. People who prefer cell phones often have very different lifestyles than people who prefer landlines.
Distracted Driving: Technology has become an obsession among many Americans. Over the years cell phones have gone from a business necessity, to a personal necessity. As a result of cell phone dependence and the need for a person to always be accessible, Americans continuously endanger themselves and others by texting while driving. The Vermont texting while driving law is widely ignored because it is severely flawed. Texting while driving has been forbidden in Vermont since July 2010.
People forget why and where they are using their phone and very often make someone else’s life miserable. There are common everyday places where using a cell phone puts others lives in danger or significantly disrupts others and even our important conversations can not be excused. In a car, on a plane, or at school are very important examples of cell phone free zones. Many people believe that there is nothing wrong with having a conversation on the cell phone in a car, but they are wrong. Utah psychologists have made a clear warning against cell phone use while driving and stated: “Drivers on cell phones are as bad as drunks” (no name,Drews, Siegel & Strayer, 2006).
Drivers are constantly reminded not to use their phones while behind the wheel. This has caused a wide spread issue throughout the United States. The problem occurs when a driver is paying more attention to their cell phone rather then driving. This could be texting someone else or dialing a phone number to make a phone call. Some states are even going as far as to making this illegal.
Cell Phones and Driving: Teenagers on the road, as it is, pose an extremely huge risk. However teenagers on the road with cellular devices, now that is suicide, unsafe, contingent, and problematic. Another name for this issue is called “Distracted Driving”. Distracted driving (according to distraction.gov) is any activity that could divert a person's attention away from the primary task of driving. All distractions endanger driver, passenger, and bystander safety, the main points of distracted driving were going to look at are those that involves: •Texting • Using a cell phone or Smartphone Nevertheless, it does not matter what you call the situation.
These tragedies are entirely preventable, as virtually no phone call or text is so urgent that the driver doesnt have time to pull over or have another passenger operate the mobile device. II. The film Monty Python’s the Life of Brian was banned upon it’s release in many cities as being “offensive to Christians.” There was a recent case of a video game being questioned for explicate sexual content. Mass Effect was the name of this game. When this game was questioned on Fox News, the people making these accusations had not yet played the game.
Stop Texting & Driving Purpose: To persuade my audience to stop using their cell phones while driving a vehicle because it is irresponsible and extremely dangerous. Specific Purpose: Using a cell phone while driving is not only dangerous to you, but others on the road and is one of the top reasons today for car accidents. I am like most people where I have texted while driving, but after I got into an accident a couple years back because I was distracted by texting, I rethought the level of importance of texting while driving.
