Explain how communication affects relationships in the work setting : In care home setting communication occurs with the service users and their fammilies, the management and the directors, the working staff in the home and with outside professionals and visitors. Effective communication is vital for the support worker. The service user and the support worker need to understand each other clearly in order for the service user to receive the best possible care. Successful communication involves the support worker speaking clearly and using phrases and sentences that service users can understand. This also involves the support worker communicating clearly and openly with other members of staff, the manager and other professionals so as to make sure that the best possible care is provided and that this is done so reliably.
However you should be speaking at a good speed where the person who you are speaking to either on the phone or face to face understands as to what you are saying. Efficiency: to effectively communicate at work I must create an open atmosphere. When talking to either a colleague or parent I must avoid a tense environment because I may be giving a wrong message. 1.2 Describe the communication requirements of different audiences Different audiences require different communication styles. When communicating with other people, it is important to adapt to meet their needs.
The message must be understood correctly to have a response. Communication can be in the way of telephone, written notes, email alerts, text messages and vocal. I would set up an administration client's correspondence and dialect needs by: • Reading his or her care arrangement • Reading his or her medicinal notes • Speaking to the customer straightforwardly • Speaking to different associates • Speaking straightforwardly to individuals from the administration client's crew.
Communication is a big deal so they are taught these ability when they first start basic training. Effective communication is important in the workplace it helps them engage with their co-workers, so communication is top priority when it comes to public services. Non-verbal communication: Non-verbal communication includes body language, hand gestures it is important especially communicating with someone who’s English is poor or a deaf person. Your body language shows more than what you’re trying to say. Verbal communication: Verbal communication is the most effective communication it can be spoken over the phone and also face to face.

It is also important to establish a level of formality required as not everyone wants to be called by their first name, some will prefer to make appointments rather than just “turn up”. Effective communication and interpersonal interaction in health and social care Communication is an important role in health and social care settings, it allows room for positive relationships and the sharing of information to be done correctly and privately. Communication can be verbal or non-verbal, in this assignment I’m going to identify a range of contexts where communication is essential. One to one communication is two people commuting, this can be formal, informal, by email, etc. For example a care worker must be formal to a patient, but when they get to know them very well, it can turn into informal communication. One to one communication is only effective when listening skills, questioning skills and information-giving skills are present.
The handovers play important part in care setting as the information can be easily misunderstand or even forgotten. One of the ways I ensure the correct methods of written shift plan. I make sure I maintain confidentiality when given handover; I make sure the staffs fully understand the information given to them. It is also important to effectively communicate in order to establish a relationship with colleagues and clients to build rapport and trust so that a fellow colleague or client feel comfortable communicating information relating to your duties within the work setting. Whilst in the work setting you may communicate differently with various individuals however it is important to communicate with all individuals with respect and appropriately at all times. When meeting a client for the first time it is important to establish how they prefer to be communicated with such as how they wish to be addressed whilst being aware of any difficulties they may have such as issues with their hearing
Unit 1 - Use and develop systems that promote communication 1.2 Explain how to support effective communication within your own job role It is essential that within my role as Deputy Manager of four residential houses is effective and of a professional nature. It is important that I have good understanding of differing skills that others may have and be able to adapt myself accordingly to be able to communicate in different ways. Within my job role I have ongoing communication with other professional organsation’s, family members of our service users, and other outside professionals it is essential that I promote and encourage effective communication to develop positive relationships to which will enable us to share relevant information regarding the service users that I support on a daily basis to meet their ongoing differing needs. It is also important that good communication skills are implemented and monitored throughout the staff teams in each house to provide consistency and continuity. 1.3 Analyse the barriers and challenges to communication within own job role The barriers and challenges of communication within my role could be • a break down of communication (lack of understanding) • lack of message clarity • distractions • Distance – and resources not working effectively.
If I was communicating with a professional I would be communicating in a formal manner mainly By verbal communication backed up by email or letter correspondence. 1.2 Explain how to support effective communication within own job role Within my role I support and communicate by various methods, this will depend on who I am communicating with i.e. service users, Families, care workers, social workers, doctors, pharmacists. It is important when talking to clients and their families that I communicate well, ensuring that all communication is personalised to the client and maintain confidentiality at all times. This level of communication is important to support the building of a positive relationship with their care worker and myself.
