You should be sincere without being cruel and compassionate without giving the person an expectation. Here's how to end a relationship while doing as little damage as you can: (1) Make sure you want to end the relationship, If you truly desired to end the relationship, subsequently you must make a list of all the reasons you are unhappy in the relationship and all the reasons those things can't be fixed. (2) Be honest but not cruel, avoid making a long list of reasons as to why you're dumping him or her. Boil down your well thought through reason to the essential problem: We are failure to launch this relationship or we are not well-matched enough in key areas. (3) Don't try to stay friends right away, If your ex asking you “Can we still be friends?” you should better say no, we can't be friends in a million years.
