"Cubby" Broccoli and Harry Saltzman in 1961, all at the same producing and funding ‘Dr. No’ the year before they established Danjaq, which because of legal reasons, became the holding company of Eon productions, from which it holds the copyrights to the James Bond franchise, However in 1975 Harry Saltzman sold his shares to United Artists so now Danjaq and UA hold the trademarks and copyrights to Eon productions, United Artist is a subsidiary company owned by (MGM) Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, but then rights were also disclaimed to Columbia Pictures which is a Subsidiary of Sony Picture Home Entertainment. At this point Sony have the majority of shares over the trademarks, but Eon still holds rights over the content of the franchise. Due Eon being owned by Multimedia giants, Eon becomes a multi national company, with offices not just in England but America and Europe, The James bond Franchise is distributed globally, due to this. Sony also make branch off products of the Franchise to further promote and advertised the franchise to the target audience, media products such as games, toys, and general merchandise. In 1996 Albert R Broccoli died, however the company is still owned by the Broccoli family, and currently run by his daughter Barbara Broccoli and run Michael Wilkson.
