People should want a college that sees their students as individuals not just a one of 20,000 or more in a crowd. In addition, professors should be available to help their students instead a school saying they have a professor who has a Nobel Prize or some other exceptionally remarkable award, but they actually do not teach the class their assistant does. At Baylor, the senior that gave our tour said he had a teacher that invited all his students to a final exam study dinner. That story really stood out to me, it showed that teachers really cared about their students and wanted to see them succeed. With a university, we should be able to meet people with common interest and goals that will eventually turn into some of our lifetime friends.
Being an adult is all about being responsible for your own actions, not blaming others and finally finding solutions for your own problems. The purpose of a student is to work with other students collaboratively in achieving goals and learning objectives. Misconduct in disruptive behavior, harassment, and stalking, including fighting and bringing weapons to campus will not be tolerated. * Important behaviors for an ethical leaner or current University of Phoenix would include treating people in such a way as to respect their freedom and individuality. Americans take their freedom for granted so much, that I truly believe that only people who have had their freedoms greatly reduced, such as those who have served in the military, know exactly what it means to be free.
This includes all assignments, exams, term papers, and other projects required by the faculty mentor. The known submission of another person’s work represented as that of the Learner’s without properly citing the source of the work will be considered plagiarism and will result in an unsatisfactory grade for the work submitted or for the entire course, and may result in academic dismissal. LHE 8006-8 Activity 2 Dr. Miller Student Affairs Leadership Key Issues and Core Values Faculty Use Only NORTHCENTRAL UNIVERSITY Key Trend and Core Values Student Affairs Theresa Hicks 3/31/2013 Introduction Key trends and issues that have shaped student affairs include changes in the role of administrators, the emergence of mental health concerns among students, an influx of international students and minorities, and a growing population of veterans. The number of issues that are covered by student affairs is as numerous as the students they serve. Each student is unique and as such enters higher education with independent needs.
The two ways a person is individualized is for the reason that even though a person loses his or her private individualism, their adjustment in to public makes possible public individuality. Richard Rodriguez states, “The bilingualists insist that a student should be reminded of his difference from others in mass society, his heritage. But they equate mere separateness with individuality. The fact is that only in private-with intimates-is separateness from the crowd a prerequisite for individuality” (Rodriguez 144). I believe Richard Rodriguez is correct about being separate from crowds of citizens, but with family members, to achieve distinctiveness.
Marywood University takes pride in their liberal arts program. Classes such as Writing Skills, University 100 and Modern Belief are all classes that Marywood University takes pride in. I agree with the University that all students should be required to take these classes to broaden their horizons in all different subjects. The classes offered at Marywood are a good guide to help us become more diverse on topics which will help us get jobs in the
Reformation takes when students, faculty and administrators see that what has worked for years isn’t working anymore. Ultimately, the students are the product of a university where they are either changed to make a difference in the world or offer little in return to the community. According to the authors and I agree when they say “college should be imaginative and integrative…where ideas are at work (Palmer, 2010).” It is easy to say what college should be or can be easy but difficult to do – that is why they are calling for reformation. Internalization of thoughts and accomplishments in higher education administration and its performance should be what push for changes in teaching and
Ethnics, religions and economic backgrounds. Because of this integration of culture diversity and their dignity should be respected. All cultures have the right to appropriate human rights and protection even though some cultures may interpret this a little different than others. “Universal human rights reflect the dynamic. Coordinated efforts of the international community to achieve and advance a common standard and international system of law to protect the human dignity”.
11 December 2014 Drowning in the Discourse Julie Wildhaber says that “A strong, well-defined voice is the bridge between you and your audience: It helps your readers understand who you are, and it helps you engage them” (Wildhaber). For students in college, their audience will always be their professor. Along with expecting a strong voice, professors expect students, even first year students, to master and employ the many other writing skills that make up academic discourse. Most students tend to prioritize the more technical conventions of writing over the development of a distinguished and personalized voice. The conventions of college writing are very complex and if professors are more helpful and patient with first year students as they learn academic discourse, students will be better prepared for all future academic endeavors and they will have a better opportunity to strengthen and develop their voice.
Therefore, the university loses credibility. The writer goes on to say she is not against being involved with commercial activities, she thinks it’s good to be connected to the outside world but she thinks there must be a limit in order to maintain the university’s image and freedom to make their own decisions. In this essay Croissant’s intention is to make students and faculty members aware of the wider context of what’s going on around them. It seeks to open their eyes and realize how harmful it can be to sign contracts with corporations or accept money from them. I, as a student found this article very convincing and helpful.
b. Governance and organizational issues: What are the issues related to governance? Are the proposed responses within the power of the governing bodies? Are there legal or ethical issues? What are the potential effects on the organizational structure of a community college?
