We are going down the road of socialism, and I personally feel it is partially due to our diversity in the country. This is going to be our country’s biggest challenge as me move further and our country becomes more diverse. What has America stood for? The land of the free, a place to come and make better for yourself; the idea of getting a job, working hard, and providing for your family; being able to get a good education and passing it on to the next generation; being able to do this without persecution. Early in this country growth the population was very diverse, but they all seemed to share some very common goals and principles.
The prospect of a newly structured government helped to make the ideas and people strive for greater and better things, allowing them to overcome, for the first time, great differences for the good of the new government. The idea of people working together to form a new system was original, one that for the first time was going to please all and exclude few. Every person played a role in the economy and politics of the New World. The slaves had a huge role in the New World, they were the workers and backbone of farming and agriculture. The woman’s part in society was growing rapidly.
Also the 11+ exam where it allocated the students into a certain type of school they were sent to, either Grammar, Technical or Secondary Morden School, based on their results. It helped students to be categorized into schools with their working-speed and intelligence which helped push them into having a successful educational experience. The last two reform acts alternate around each other; the beginning of comprehensive schools at 1960s where all students go to same schools regardless of their ability, allowed the minister of education to introduce the Baker Act in 1988. They aimed to improve educational institutions for a better educational experience for all students by raising standards, called Marketisation. This bought on Marketisation where schools try to attract other students by raising standards to show they are most successful.
A democratic/participative leadership style is one of the most effective styles that leads to higher productivity, better contributions from group members, and increased group morale (Cherry, 2013). As a democratic/participative leader, good communication skills are a must. Leaders must communicate with employees by encouraging and involving them with the opportunity to share ideas, opinions, and suggestions. Giving them the opportunity of sharing the ideas, opinions, and suggestions will show how well the employees skills are and how it will affect the district. The democratic/participative leaders must communicate with its employees by taking his or her ideas, opinions, and suggestions in making the final decision.
This is why we have groups of people able of bargaining with employers to make the work industry fair for everyone. A union is an association of workers established to improve economic and social conditions in a company. Their main job is to bargain with employers for better wages and better working conditions. They are also involved in lobbying and have a right to support favorable candidates in politics. Unions lobby to improve hours, wages, and working conditions in a certain company.
Sarah's Long Walk Reflection by Adreanna I found so many points of interest in Sarah's Long Walk by Stephen and Paul Kendrick. It was difficult to decide on just one. I have the philosophy that all people are created equal and with that said deserve the same opportunities in life and especially education. As with many of the people mentioned in this book, I agree that , “ without diversity that many groups bring to a school, the whole system of public schools suffers.”(pg 166) In education as in life every individual has a unique contribution to make. As educators, we are influential in the development and outcome , of bringing each individuals unique talents and knowledge forth, without bias.

Characteristics of a transformational leader are providing vision and direction, gains trust from others, communicates expectations and critical purposes, motivate and influence rationality, advises, and guides individuals (Robbins & Judge, 2013, p. 383). I tend to be creative with the task given to me and I have the ability to think outside the box. Although I have a high attention to detail, my critical thinking and problem-solving skills make me an effective leader amongst my peers. “[T]ransformational leaders also show greater agreement among top managers about the organization’s goals, which yields superior organizational performance” (Robbins & Judge, 2013, p. 383). According to a study conducted by Gong, Huang, and Farh (2009), employees who work under transformational leaders had more self-confidence in their ability to be more creative and perform higher (pgs.
Maximizing and capitalizing on workplace diversity has become an important issue for mana). There are some benefits of a diverse society, such as attitudes, goals or a person characteristics and this is due to learning so much from all types of people and their background. I think by the civil and tolerant acceptance I believe that we should all treat one another with respect and treat people as they want to be treated. Mass Media, such as the cinema and television have already shaped society and
We each pay taxes, receive assistance if needed, and are able to do as we wish in our life. We also have the right to vote on representatives to represent us as citizens so that our voice can be heard in Congress. It is our job as citizens to get involved by contacting our representative and giving him our ideas or suggestions. He is there to listen, represent, and most of all do what is best for his community and people that he represents. Many representatives are there for the people and not their own personal agenda, however; there are often times some that come in that have a personal agenda in mind that they are working toward to better the people they represent.
