In the United States, government mostly helps the poor, elderly, and disabled. In Canada everyone gets insurance from the government. This paper discusses the similarities and differences of both countries in five different aspects; government involvement, price of health care and administrative overheads, coverage and access, wait times, and life expectancy and infant mortality. In 1999 the United States spent a total of $1,059 per capita in health care administration. The United States is the richest country in the world and has more affluent societies however the US is spending more in healthcare than less affluent countries. The United States must reduce the overhead spending in healthcare and start implementing a health care system similar to Canada and a healthier lifestyle for all Americans.
