Romelia Proctor Unit 6 April 1, 2014 CM206:Interpersonal Communications 1-From the interaction does it seem to you that Alan is actively listening? Why or why not? It’s his job to perform interviews, he has to listen to what they feel they should work on and if they think they are doing well at work. Alan tells them from his point of view on what they need to work on to be better workers but he is more I his feelings so to me he is not a actively listening. 2-Describe how Alan’s opening thoughts on his job, narrated in the video; affect his approach to the performance reviews. Does Alan’s view of his job foster a negative or positive work atmosphere with his employees? Explain. Alan hates the time that he has to conduct interviews because some employees get personal and that is what he does not want to get into. Alan is not sure of what approach he should use when doing the interviews. Alan views his job as negative work atmosphere because of how most employers get defensive. 3-Identify specific comments made by Alan that show he is either effectively listening to his employees or that he is not. The comment he made to the female employee she explains the reason why she works slowly so she can do her correctly.
