We need to consider as well the new legislations and be updated to different changes and be able to apply in our work. Unit 11 Analyse the principles, scope and purpose of professional supervision The purpose of a professional supervision is to see that the staff member is able to carry out their job role effectively and that they are working to the expected standards set. It also looks at whether the staff member is happy in their job role and to see how they would like to progress in their future; improve their work with someone in his or her life. 1.1The purpose of a professional supervision is to improve the quality of work so that the staff can achieve their outcomes which will help them achieve new ways of working and developing new skills and to adapt to different procedures needs. As a manager my roles is to help staff members to achieve a more effective practice through developing their knowledge competence and skills. In supervision the mangers role is to: • Ensure policies and procedures are followed • Maintain clarity about job roles, responsibilities and accountabilities.
1.1 I feel it is important for me to continually improve my knowledge to ensure that I am aware of, and follow all the current health and social care and CQC standards, legislation, changes in law, and guidelines for good practice as well as ensuring I follow my company’s policies and procedures. I also feel it is vital that I pass any new knowledge I gain on to my team because this provides them with up to date information in order for them to carry out their roles as support workers effectively. I will do this during team meetings, supervisions and mandatory training, this also allows staff to reflect back on information that has been given to them. Unit 502- Promote professional development 1.1 Explain the importance of continually improving knowledge and practice It is very important to continually maintain and more importantly improve their knowledge and the practice of the staff team and ourselves. This is so that staff work consistently with each other and are working in a way that meets legislation, policy and the service user needs. If staff do not improve or refresh their knowledge then their work practice could be out of date and no longer meet legal requirements as well as the requirements of the service users. By developing staff knowledge this could ensure that their work morale is kept positive and that they are motivated to complete their job correctly as this could empower them in their job role. Most importantly improving knowledge and practice ensures that the service users are getting the care they need in a correct manner.
CU2942 Promote Professional Development 1.1 It is important to continually improve my knowledge and practise within my role (as well as for others in their roles), so that I am aware of the up to date training, legislation and good practice. As I am a line manager I must set an example to others, and be knowledgeable enough to answer queries and share information. As legislation and methods of working in social care are often improved and adapted, I must keep up to date. Through expanding my knowledge I gain a better understanding of the job, which I can then pass on to others. I am able to undertake new duties through improvement, which makes my role more varied and interesting.

1.2 Explain the importance of reflective practice in continuously improving the quality of service provided. Reflective practice should be important in just about anything the ward and I want to do well. It is the opportunity to look over what I have done, see what needs to be improved and what worked well. I can make a record of what went well (at least a mental one) and look for ways to improve the things that need to work better. It enables me to consider new approaches which could be applied and develop a greater self-awareness.
