These policies are put in place to ensure that individuals live their lives to their full potential. Ensuring a persons basic needs as humans are being recognised and met. Legislation and Policies are respectful of individuals needs and differences. Also, gives reassurance to their families that everything possible is being done to allow their loved ones to live their lives fully, where they have the right to be full members of society in which they live, choose where they live, what they do and to be as independent as they possibly can be. Outcome 2 1 A learning disability affects the ability to understand new or complex information, to learn new skills and how they communicate. Some may not be able to cope independently and may need extra support in their daily living skills, workplace or education. The individual my need support with managing their finances, their household tasks or even with socialising. Some individuals grow up to be quite independent whilst others may need help with washing and getting dressed and every day tasks for their whole life. A leaning disability can be mild, moderate or severe. Some people may be able to talk easily and look after themselves but can take longer to understand and learn new skills.
