Her father an immigrant from Trinidad was a newspaper columnist, a merchant seaman and the first black man to work for the New York City Subway as a motorman. She was raised in Harlem; Bath was motivated academically by her parents. Inspired by Albert Schweitzer, she applied for and won a National Science Foundation Scholarship while attending Charles Evans Hughes High School; this led her to a research project at Yeshiva University and Harlem Hospital Center on cancer that irritated her interest in medicine. I n 1960, still a teenager, Bath won the "Merit Award" of Mademoiselle Magazine for her contribution to the project.

William Shockley: Father of the Bipolar Transistor William Shockley was born in 1910 to American parents in London, England. He graduated from the California Institute of Technology before getting a PhD in physics from MIT. After that, he went to work at Bell Labs, taking a brief break for radar research for the military during WWII, returning to Bell after the war ended. During his schooling at CIT, Shockley married Jean Bailey, who gave birth to Alison Shockley in 1934. Later, Shockley would divorce Jean and marry Emmy Lanning, who would have a son, Dick.
He spent a particularly hard time at the boarding school where he suffered from lack of parental care and affection. It was this childhood suffering that led him to develop the theories on child development. Bowlby attended Trinity College at Cambridge where he studied pre-clinical sciences and psychology. He graduated from there winning the title for outstanding intellectual performance. After that, he started studying at University College Hospital in London at the age of twenty-two.
Charles Darwin’s Theory of Evolution Charles Robert Darwin was born on 12 February 1809 in Shrewsbury, Shropshire into a wealthy and well-connected family. His grandfather was one of the leading intellectuals of 18th century England. Darwin initially planned to pursue a career in medicine, and began studying at Edinburgh University in England, but later changed to divinity, and studied at Cambridge. This lead to him joining a five year scientific expedition on the HMS Beagle. Charles Darwin was famous for his controversial theory that animals evolved by means of natural selection.
Unfortunately somewhere down the line, the school board members at the district, and state level didn’t think the program was worth keeping. It is truly baffling, and makes a person wonder just where the priorities are when it comes to the education of children. As a result of these broken education systems, along with excessive social activities, and the lack of parental involvement, a high percentage of students are just skimming by when it comes to getting their education. School districts around the country are not doing enough to properly educate children. As a result, this country has fallen far below the international average when it comes to education.
