He gave the U.S. the idea to buy Alaska from Russia. Day 2 Pearl Harbor: kingdoms best port/base became a refueling station for American ships. Japan felt a threat from this port so the sought out to bomb it. Yellow Journalism: the sensational style of writing, which exaggerates the news to lure and enrage readers. Today they still use yellow journalism in a way for celebrity magazines.
