Effective communication amongst pupils and adult allows the pupil to have a proper understanding of what they are expected to do, how they are expected to behave, what resources they need. They will be able to speak to adults about their needs and they are likely to be offered the services and resources which they require to achieve. Effective communication is extremely important in developing relationships with children, young people and adults. Communication is a two way process. It is just as important to listen to the child/colleague/parent, as it is to communicate verbally with them.

Being a teaching assistant ,you have to model yourself in a best possible way to communicate with children as they learn and absorb your methods of communication. In order to develop and maintain positive relationships with children ,I have to communicate politely and clearly so that they can understand me. By using simple vocabulary and positive body language I can get their attention more easily and my friendly approach would make me trustworthy for them and they can discuss their problems or share their ideas with me. For example,in my placement,my friendly and polite attitude towards reception children makes it easy for them to bring their complaints to me;if they are hurt or hit by somebody.

They are fundamental to school improvement so where children have good skills in these areas, and are educated within an environment supportive to emotional health and well-being, they will be motivated and equipped to: * be effective and successful learners * make and sustain friendships * deal with and resolve conflict effectively and fairly * solve problems with others or by themselves * manage strong feelings such as frustration, anger and anxiety * be able to promote calm and optimistic states that further
Secondly, children increase social and cognitive development from positive influences that are communicated by teachers. Emphasis around Vygotsky’s theory will explain the basis of social interaction facilitating learning with the benefit of good communication (Eggen & Kauchak, 2010). Thirdly, teachers must develop high level of written and verbal communication skills. This will develop good relationships between the teacher, student and family leading to proper educational practices that will improve student’s overall outcomes will enhance their literacy skill. Finally, educators with effective communication skills prove an ability to adapt teaching methods to suit the needs of students they are supporting (Kearns, 2012), and with appropriate delivery of good communication, student learning increases.
Sarah Smith TASK1 How will communicating effectively help you to build positive relationship with them? Effective communication is a “two way process”. It involves good communication weather it verbal or non-verbal, but both very important. It also involves a good listener, enabling the person to develop an understanding of the subject being discussed. With good communication comes co-operation and good development.
We all have the child’s best interests at heart and want to do our best to give that child the best opportunities available to them. It is vital that we share appropriate information and value each other’s opinions. Observing professionals in their role can help a key worker with their own approach giving them a fuller understanding for the reasoning behind certain activities aimed at the child to help them to progress, and give them greater learning opportunities you may otherwise have been unaware
It shows that the school staff has a common purpose, targets and greater support would be achieved, an environment that would encourage greater and more effective learning would result in the pupils knowledge being more diversified. Faster output is another benefit of a good teamwork. As no person can be good at everything and working in a team provides a great opportunity for the school staff to learn from each other’s skills and talents. Teacher teamwork is dependent on trusting, professional relationships with each other and with their supervisors. .
Role of peer tutors in the classroom Peer tutors should prove to be good role models because they need to be a positive influence for the younger students to follow. Peer tutors should arrive to class with a positive attitude ready to help the students, being organized, asking questions and using their abilities and skills to assist the students in the classroom learn are very important guidelines for the peer tutor to follow. Having a positive attitude is an excellent trait for a peer tutor to inherit. Having a positive attitude makes it easier for the students in the classroom to approach the peer tutor for assistance. Maintaining a positive attitude is helpful in many ways and makes you likeable among the students.
Communication is an essential skill for worker who wants to do well in their setting; this communication can be between adults or children. 1.2 Explain how effective communication affects all aspects of own work. Communicating together involves a two-way sharing of information and helps to develop a common understanding, meaning it is easier for parents, carers and staff to support one another. Effective communication also helps families and staff to build a trusting partnership and develop honest and respectful relationships. When families and staff have a genuine interest in one another, people are able to be open about their thoughts and feelings.
