Unit Three 1.1 Understand the importance of equality and inclusion Diversity – Diversity to me means understanding that each individual is unique, and recognizing our individual differences. These can be along the dimensions of race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, socio-economic status, age, physical abilities, religious beliefs, political beliefs, or other ideologies. It is the exploration of these differences in a safe, positive, and nurturing environment. It is about understanding each other and moving beyond simple tolerance to embracing and celebrating the rich dimensions of diversity contained within each individual. Equality Equality to mean being equal. This mean providing equal oportunity to everyone. Inclusion Inclusio for me is to ensure i include all in my activity, and aim for all to have a some involvement within these sessions. Discrimination the unjust or prejudicial treatment of different categories of people, especially on the grounds of race, age, or sex. 1.2 Describe ways in which discrimination may deliberately or inadvertently occur in the work setting. In my role as the activity coornernator on larch unit, I must always be aware of my action and unsure that any activities are availble to all. I must treat everyone fairly and equally. I must not treat someone differntly base on gender, aga, disabaily, sexuality or religion. Discrimmationn may occur if a rule or policy is more restrictive for people from certain groups. An example of this would be if we as a company only offer religionise information on christinty. 1.3 Explain how practices that support equality and inclusion reduce the likelihood of discrimination. In my role as the activities coordinator when considering my session i must ensure i support everyone equally and include them in all activities. This will help ensure i do not discriminate
