P3 An advertising agency is a company that carries out all or some aspects of advertising production for firms by which it has been hired. They are a service based business dedicated to creating, planning, and handling advertising for its clients. Some agencies handle all phases of advertising campaigns, from performing market research and establishing product branding strategies to producing ads and placing them in appropriate places. The reason is for this is that they are experienced and knowledgeable in this specific area. They are professionals therefore can deal with these things at a high standard. Media planning Advertising agencies are capable of knowing the best possible placement and price of a piece of media within any given media. The main task of media planning lies within the negotiation of price and placement to ensure the best possible value can be secured. The department find the most beneficial platforms to use for the company using them in order to ensure the adverts are seen by the right target market. Producing the adverts The production department ensures the specific advertisements get produced. Without them, ads made, wouldn't even be known. They are responsible for arranging for work to be done by another company for example, setting up work with directors and design studios in order to make the actual advert. Producers are involved in every aspect of a project, from the initial creative briefing through execution and delivery. Designing the adverts Advertising agencies combine copywriting, graphic design and typography of the design of an advertisement. There are many things that go into designing TV ads as well so agencies will have a team of professionals in order to produce things like storyboards. These people look at the company’s ethos to see what their business is all about and design the perfect advert for the client.
