We are a set up and take down setting so all equipment is checked over whilst doing this daily, anything broken or damaged is removed. When staff/volunteers have their induction training they are given a clear explanation of health and safety issues so that all adults are able to adhere to the policy and understand their shared responsibility for health and safety including manual handling and storage of potentially dangerous substances. As we are a morning session only, we try where possible not to have workers in the building when the setting is in operation, but if necessary the manager/supervisor will explain the health and safety procedures and a member of staff will stay with them throughout their stay and they are not allowed near the children. All visitors are to sign the visitor book on

All company employee phones will be monitored by an auditing group that will be listening to employee phone calls and making sure that the employee is following the confidentiality of the patient. Explain how the procedures of the work setting protect both children and young people and practitioners. (7.2) All staff in the setting are DBS checked before they start and the DBS is checked every year. We have clear health and Saftey procedures that are mainted everyday within the nursery. We split them into different areas for each staff: First aid- staff ensure that the first aid box is stocked with all items of equipment at all times i.e plasters, bandages, eye pads, sterile water. Fire safety- staff carry out regular fire drills/smoke alarm checks/fire equipment checks to ensure they are all working correctly.

21.11.2013 DK8W 04 (HSC22) Support the health and safety of yourself and individuals HSC22.1 Carry out health and safety checks before you begin work activities when I arrived at my workplace, before I started working the first thing I did is sign in on the board that is placed on the wall beside the main entry, so everyone knows I was in the building. Every member of staff has to do this, also I signed in individuals on their arrival on a different board. This way everyone is aware of who is in the building at anytime. In an emergency fire evacuation the last person leaving the building, which is the manager or team leader, takes these boards and goes to the fire assembly point to proceed to check that everyone is outside the building secure and safe following fire evacuation and Health and Safety policies and procedures.
