The services that are needed for a new housing estate that has lots of children are different from those that have a wells established estate with a larger amount of older adults; also the risks can change as well. The government and the local authorities are always gathering data at local and national levels monitoring whether or not the health and social care needs are adequate to meet their needs. Within the UK the amount of older people is progressively increasing because people live longer as attention is being given on what the best way is to provide the services that meet their needs effectively and efficiently. There are guidelines in place that give a framework for ethical research which influences codes of ethics that are applied to research that is carried out in the NHS and universities in the UK. Codes of conduct or practice for health and social care professionals don’t clearly include research but the underlying principles of professional practice would be consistent with the expectations for ethical research.
