1.2 The difference between FORMATIVE and SUMMATIVE assessment is there are different strategies FORMATIVE assessment can be on-going; as a pupil learning takes place you can use different ways to measure. Using open ended questions, e.g. ask the pupil to explain how they are going to… Using observation we can see how a pupil is coping with what we are asking them to achieve, how they go about dealing with the task set, you can do this formally through direct observation or on a day to day basis in the classroom. Listening to a child explain how they are going to tackle the task set is a good way of understanding their methods. Listening to the answers given to questions asked is a good way to find out what they understand about a given task.

It is important to be knowledgeable of the school curriculum and age related expectations of pupils. Assessment plan After my discussion with the learner I would use an assessment plan and explain to the learner what an assessment plan is. It is advisable that the assessment plan be done with the TA, learner and the learner’s manager. On the assessment plan I would record what activities I need to see always getting input from the learner and manager, having already discussed with the learner what they do in their job role and cross checking them against the units they are doing. I would detail were the activity/assessment is to take place the date/time and how long the assessment is going take. I would explain to the learner what is required from them e.g.
Individual Education Plans (IEP) has an educational purpose; it provides evidence of the agreed special educational interventions and other supports to be provided for the pupil together with recording parent, pupil and teachers’ professional views. An IEP also records the strategies that need to be used to enable a pupil to progress in the education system. An IEP is a written document prepared for a named pupil, specify the learning goals that are to be achieved by the pupil over a set period of time and the teaching strategies, resources and supports necessary to achieve those goals. The Individual Education Plan is developed through a collaborative process involving the school, parents, the pupil and other relevant personnel or agencies. It refers to the adapted or modified aspects of the educational programme and focuses on priority learning needs, although the pupil may also have other learning needs that will not require the same intensive degree of planning and monitoring.
After reviewing the syllabus, a teacher’s responsibility is to plan the learning by preparing a work scheme, lesson plans as well as finding or creating appropriate materials that will cover the course requirements.
