Unit 205 – Introduction to duty of care in health, social care or children’s and young people’s settings Outcome 3 – Know how to respond to complaints 3.1 Describe how to respond to complaints All complaints and concerns we receive are dealt with fairly and quickly in my establishment and we respond to individuals’ needs as a main priority. It is important that all complaints are reported to a senior staff member or Manager and is then logged within our complaints form for investigation. All complaints received are important and must be taken seriously. The Care Quality Commission (CQC) requires my organisation to gather, evaluate and generate reports about complaints – this is to ensure the improvement of our service is ongoing and is evolving all the time. It is really important for our service users to exercise their rights as human beings.
Consideration should be given to adjourning the meeting for any further investigation that may be necessary. Communicating your decision Following the meeting, you should decide on what action, if any, to take. The decision, and a full explanation of how you reached it, should be communicated to the employee in writing, without unreasonable delay. Where appropriate, the decision should set out what action you intend to take to resolve the grievance. The employee should be informed that they can appeal if they feel that their grievance has not been satisfactorily resolved.
Once this meeting is booked and accepted by all parties, I make my own agenda or write up an agenda provided by my director in preparation for the up and coming meeting, then at the meeting I have the topics that need to be covered. This makes my minute taking much easier also; I take accurate minutes and make sure they are typed up as soon as I am able to. These minutes are the circulated to those who attended and those who were unable to attend, each are asked to read and sign once they are happy with the content. I then file these on our company zdrive which is dated and timed encase we ever need to retrieve them. 1.2 I was recently involved in performance supervision, this had to be dealt with in a tactful way, the supervision was
5.2.1 Explain the actions to take if there are suspicions that an individual is being abused: In case I do suspect that an individual may have been abused, I take any signs seriously. I´ll ask the service user if he would like to tell me if anything unusual has occurred. I´ll record what have been heard. Even if do not get any concerning information I still write down what I have observed. Soonest as possible but not later than 24hours of my suspicions I call to the office and contact the Safeguarding Tem.
Public health officials requested that the government ban trans-fat and reduce sodium levels, but the government made no attempt at changing or stopping the release of fatty foods. At one point the government had ideas of how to control sodium which would save on health care costs and lengthen lives but decided against it due to financial consequences. The government’s inactivity gave way to the increasing level of health issues and obesity in Canadians. Some Canadians realize that they are unhealthy, but don’t realize the food they eat is the cause. Because of the absence of labels most Canadian’s don’t even know the nutritional value of the food they eat.
As soon as I have been informed that a member of staff has been threatened, these would be the steps I would follow to protect the member of staff. • Have the staff member attend a meeting to find out what the threat is weather a personal threat from another staff member or an external threat. • Find out where the threat was made i.e. face to face or through a form of social media or email. • Depending on the threat if it’s an internal threat from a staff member I would inform Human Resources, just in case we need to follow up with any disciplinary actions.
2.2 Explain how to prioritise requests All requests need to be dealt with in a timely and efficient manner. All attendees must also be notified of any change requests to be sure they are convenient. 2.3 Explain the purpose of prioritising requests Purpose of prioritising requests is to make sure that all relevant people are informed of changes before the appointment take places. 2.4 Explain the purpose of trying to balance the needs of all those involved 2.5 Explain the purpose of communicating changes to those affected 2.6 Explain the purpose of keeping a diary system up to date 2.7 Describe the different types of problems that may occur when new requests are made and solutions to these problems 2.8 Explain the purpose of following security and confidentiality procedures when using a diary
Imposing higher taxes on junk food will not encourage healthy eating. Taxes don’t stop people from buying things that satisfy them. By restricting dietary choices Americans will not suddenly know the difference between junk food and health food. The government cannot appropriately regulate and restrict improper consumption in people’s homes; they need to keep their hands out of Americans pockets and start fighting obesity through educating adults and their children on proper nutritional routines. Imposing a junk food tax draws attention to one of the most imperative questions which is how to define foods as unhealthy.
It is important to note that depression and abuse are not always a factor but that it is common in many cases. In both diseases, their main focus is on food, although there are different results. (Bruch 1992) The result of Anorexia and Bulimia on a person’s health is very similar, but the steps leading up to the conditions are not. With Anorexia, a person consciously does not eat in order to achieve what they perceive as the “perfect” body. When they look in the mirror, they do not see how lean and skeletal they appear, rather, they see themselves as needing to lose “just a few more pounds.” With Bulimia, a person consumes large quantities of food to numb their feelings.
To look like this they think they need to go on diets, some diets that cause them to have eating disorders and may lead to death. Do you really want your child to be exposed to watching these models? If you think models are perfect and have it all, then you’re wrong. Even models themselves need to be on diets. Models aren’t perfect.
