UNIT 203 Outcome 1: Understand the purpose and benefits of respecting and supporting other people at work 1. Explain the purpose of supporting other people at work. The purpose of supporting others at work is so that jobs can get completed faster and more efficiently than if people were completing the tasks by themselves. This is because you can use people’s skillsets to help with various parts of work so that the best person for the job completes different areas of the tasks which will get the work done to a higher standard and also complete it faster as more people are working on the tasks at one time. 2. Explain the purpose of helping other people to work effectively and efficiently a. For individuals b. For organisations 1. Describe what is meant by diversity and why it should be valued. Diversity is where everyone is treated the same no matter of their religion, age, gender, ethnicity or other factors such as disabilities. This should be valued because it should not matter what someone is like, everyone should have the chance to get the same opportunities in life and should not be discriminated against. Companies should always value this because it makes it fair for each person that applies and means that they can get the best one that’s interviewed and not rule people out before they even get interviewed. 2. Describe how to treat other people in a way that is sensitive to their needs. I can treat other people in a way that is sensitive to their needs by observing how they act. This will give a good indication as to what type of person they are and what they can and cannot do. This then allows me to be able to change how I treat that person as I will know what their needs are and can be sensitive to them regarding how they are. All people need to be treated in different ways and one way to treat a person will not work
