Unit 2 P5. Paige Crawford. In every health and social care setting they promote anti-discrimination so all careers and clients do not feel discriminated against. When they promote anti-discrimination practice they have to make sure everyone get the same and equal rights and are all treated with the right amount of attention that is needed and also so they don’t feel as if they are missing out or mistreat. First of all the careers should make sure the service users are made more than welcome. To find out the best way if communicating with the service user, e.g. sign language, or the preferred language they choose to talk. Also careers have to understand that different service users have different beliefs and that it should be respected so if they have to go to church careers have to let them as everyone has their own rights, also careers have to let them follow their own religion. Also both careers and service users have to make an agreement on a ‘care plan’ and make sure it is followed by both service users and careers, for example this could happen in a care home as everyone has to understand others and follow the care plan that has been decided for every individual. Communication is a big part in a care home as well. In all health and social care settings all service users should feel comfortable, and be able to express their needs. There are many ways to make sure this happens such as communicating in a way that suits them so they feel comfortable, or even have the right equipment or techniques so the service users feel comfortable.Also people who have an illness such as dementia they may need to communicate with signs or pictures for example, this could happen in any health and social care setting such as hospitals, care homes, as communication is a massive part in our day to day life.
