Diversity is a visible and non-visible thing. These could include personal characteristics that are also protected under discrimination legislation. By recognising each and everyone’s individual needs we are able to have a positive and productive working environment in which everybody will feel valued. Within my workplace we have to be aware of everybody’s Individual needs not just the staffs but also the Students that we teach and look after. As every child have their own needs.

Equality means to treat everyone equally in a way that is appropriate to their needs. Discrimination is the prejudicial treatment of an individual based on their membership in a certain group or category. Inclusion is seen as a universal human right and aims at embracing all people irrespective of race, gender, disability, medical or other needs. It is about giving equal access and opportunities and getting rid of discrimination and intolerance.
However, we can aim to offer each unique child equality of opportunity suited to their individual needs and requirements. We as staff need to understand the needs and requirements of each individual child. For each child to have equal opportunities, settings they learn and play in must ensure that they and their families are fully included in the setting, taking into account the diversity of the children and families who come to the setting. Inclusion is the process of making this happens. Working towards inclusion involves striving to remove barriers to children and their families.
