ECM is important as it protects children from discrimination and harm. The CASHE Statement of Values insures that all CASHE students act in a responsible manner towards the children and parents and insures that the child is always put first. The statement supports children as it has a list of criteria that all CASHE students must follow in order to maintain confidentiality and protect children in their care. This relates to my placement as is provides my supervisors with guidelines that they can make sure I follow. The statement is important because it protects children form mistreatment from CASHE students.
Hazard= Anything that has the potential to cause harm. (p22, support children and young people’s health and safety L. Burnham, B. Baker) Everyone in school needs to be alert to any hazards, which are likely to cause harm or injury to themselves and others. The school is required to carry out risk assessments to make sure that everything is safe. Staff and pupils need to be aware of hazards and report them as soon as possible to the appropriate person. You should be aware of the person you report too.
Conclusion All children and young people should get the chance to lead a happy growing life and not have to suffer from abuse in anyway. If they do suffer from some kind of abuse, it is good for the child to know that there are agencies out there to help when they are needed for their specialist area.
